For those of you interested in the goings on in Venezuela, or are not up to speed on what the constitutional reform measure means for the citizens down there, go to this blog (http://constitutional-reform-venezuela.blogspot.com/) and check out the November postings, which help explain what changes are being made to the Constitution of Venezuela and how these changes are going to affect personal freedom.

IMO, the "SI" campaign being led by President Chavez is a smokescreen to hide the devil in the details. I hope the people vote "NO" tomorrow.

I'm wondering if anyone else is curious or have been paying attention. I would like to hear your opinion on this.

i didn't here of this before today. after very cursory examination i have to say i'm against the reform. the articles i've read talk of how chavez used the 1999 constitution to take power from their legislature and move it to the president. now he seems to want more power for himself. they say it's a toss-up, which is telling seeing how he won re-election (and his party won other elections) by a landslide earlier in the year.

Regardless of how the people vote, I have the feeling Chavez is going to get the outcome he wants. Overwhelmingly, of course.

Venezualans to vote on Sunday

I hope they keep it. I'd hate to have to change all my recently purchased 2008 calendars.

If this was an NPR board, there would be 15 people telling you how droll you are.:)

I don't care about who wins as long as the result guarantees this...

That's what I'm afraid of. I know this sounds nerdy, but in SW Ep III: ROTS when Senator Palpatine is made Emporer by the Senate, Padme says, "So this is how democracy dies, with thunderous applause"

Yeah, I know, nerd alert. But it's the only way to sum up how I feel about this: A whole country possibly voting away their individual freedom.
It's just so sad to see this happening, democracy being used to take away democracy.

I can't say the Venezuelan people are stupid as I have seen others do on the idiot "comments" sections on the media websites. It would be insulting to them to say that.
It just looks like a nation of desperately poor people are willing to give up the "Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" in order to keep the "Life" part of what we take for granted here in America.

They already did. There was a vote a couple years back that gave Chavez a shitload of power. This is nothing compared to that.

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - President Hugo Chavez suffered a stunning defeat Monday in a referendum that would have let him run for re-election indefinitely and impose a socialist system in this major U.S. oil provider. (http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8T9PU500&show_article=1)

when people vote against a 6 hour workday, you know the rest of this must have been really unpopular.

Though thanks for backing up my points in another thread.
