An Audio Walk in the Snowy Woods

I just got a new mic and recorder so I can start doing "field reporting" kind of work.

I took a Walk into the Dark and Snowy Woods this evening to record Old Number 11 (http://www.atomsmotion.com/uploads/on11.mp3). These are some very dangerous woods - with crazy night hunters and coyotes and bears and mooses. I could hardly see and got lost for some of the time. Also my hand got very very cold.

It's a peaceful journey, except for the part where I am attacked by the creature.

There are sounds of snow, sounds of boots in snow, sounds of snow landing on my coat, against the leaves.

Also the riveting sound of snow hitting snow...music by Explosions in the Sky...

When I realized how long it was, I assumed I wouldnt listen to the whole thing...
but there I was, enjoying my walk alongside my budday whom Ive yet to meet.

At an early point, while discussing his boots, and the glue he used to fix them, he reminded me of Orson Wells discussing how he was gonna read a certain ad.

And at the end, which came along sooner than I had earlier predicted, I had enjoyed our walk, and look forward to other insights into this man's life.

If this is what it takes to bring him down from the mountain, I will have to go wander in the snowy woods more...

Snow snow...we are getting a few more big storms in the next week and I hope to go out again...

Maybe this time I'll climb a tree and just rest up in the branches as the snow falls.
