This morning, Kris Kailuri was not on my "kill all government lackeys" roster.

If, by the time I hit the Turnpike this afternoon, conditions are such that cars are slipping and sliding all over the road and I have to drive in 3rd gear the entire way home again, well...

And there's no accumulation on the streets here in Newark. Only on the grass in Military Park. Meh.

They haven't been able to give any real idea of what kind of storm we'll have here on Saturday and Sunday, because it's too unpredictable. I just checked Weather Underground. They're now saying it's going to be almost all sleet. Dammit!!!! I can appreciate a good snow storm, but I HATE ice.

No, I am not "just realizing this now."

He just wasn't on my fecal roster until I got to the Turnpike.

No salt, sand or brine trucks and miles of asshats who don't know how to fucking drive meant it took me 15 minutes to get off the entry ramp and actually onto the 'Pike. I have the camera phone photo to prove it because traffic was at a standstill. Thankfully, the roadway was just wet so I didn't slide all over the place and I made it home in under 2 hours.

(That reminds me, I need to send that to Sara so she can show Texans what real traffic looks like.)

Oh my friend - often people think that buffalo gets snow in june. Ok, that happened once or twice. However, it is a common misconception that buffalo is some sort of winter hell for 6 months a year.

Usually, the reports of miserable snow storms are from the towns 20 to 50 miles south of Buffalo (Ellicottville, NY as an example). Sometimes, they repost other cities in western New York as Buffalo. Our proximity to big storms in the region makes us more likely to be called out. Buffalo is more well known than say, Dunkirk NY or Warsaw NY so they all get lumped together.

We have had our fair share of terrible storms, but those are not all that often. For a good one, look up the October 2006 Buffalo snowstorm. It hit Columbus day weekend and caused havoc for a very long time. Those New Englanders with their storms causing only 400 thousand people to have power outages (across 5 states) don't know storms. There were reports of up to 750 thousand without power at one point just in the Metro Buffalo area. After a week we still had something like 100 thousand without power. It fucked us up really good. Really good like a hot cup of tea. A hot cup of tea if instead of tea it was a three foot snow storm. A three foot snow storm that hit us in the face like a hot cup of tea. I mean seriously, you have a lot of corn out your way, build a hut and stop wearing women's panties.....

sorry, I kinda went off there. I'm not even sure what that was. But, yes I agree with you not being able to see shit.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN UPTON HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM FRIDAY TO MIDNIGHT EST FRIDAY NIGHT. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

SNOW IS EXPECTED TO OVERSPREAD THE REGION FRIDAY MORNING... AND COULD BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES ESPECIALLY IN THE AFTERNOON. SNOW MAY ALSO MIX WITH SLEET IN THE AFTERNOON IN AREAS CLOSER TO THE COAST. THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 5 TO 9 INCHES... WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS FURTHEST FROM THE COAST. THERE MAY BE A VERY SHARP DIFFERENCE IN SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OVER A SHORT DISTANCE..ESPECIALLY IF SLEET MIXES WITH SNOW. REGARDLESS... TRAVEL WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

I hate the freaking snow. It's cold and wet..and for my job I have to go and make sure 16 different locations are shoveled....the lazy bastards I work with. They clear a 2 foot area and say "I cleared the sidewalk...I need to put in my overtime"..fuckin humps. I always love the snow around Christmas. Reminds me of when I was young. Sledding, snow ball fights..building a snow fort. Now it just reminds me, I am going to be cold, tired and wet. And have to put up with crying asses who expect the snow to hit the ground and it should be cleared.

Bah humbug!

People here bore the crap out of me with their talk of incoming winter storms that turn out to be a little bit of snow mixed with sleet. we live in a development so they are supposed to take care of the walkways & driveways. but when we went out to shovel dino's car last night (he had to leave for work at 4am) there was still about half a foot of snow blocking my garage after it had been plowed a bit earlier in the evening. so i'm wondering how the hell i'm gonna get my car out when we try to head home tonight. cause there was no where to shovel the snow to. sucks that dinos car is just a work car. it can't make another trip back & forth to the city.

... LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EST MONDAY...

A LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EST MONDAY.

HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW AND STRONG WINDS WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE SEVERE WINTER TRAVEL CONDITIONS THROUGH TONIGHT. HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW SQUALLS WILL CONTINUE ACROSS ALL OF THE BUFFALO METRO AREA EAST TO GENESEE COUNTY THROUGH EARLY EVENING. LATER THIS EVENING THE BAND IS EXPECTED TO CONSOLIDATE ACROSS THE SOUTHTOWNS AND THEN PUSH SOUTH INTO SKI COUNTRY AFTER MIDNIGHT. SNOWFALL RATES OF AROUND 2 INCHES PER HOUR ARE LIKELY IN THE HEAVIEST BANDS. ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 8 TO 12 INCHES ARE EXPECTED IN THE MOST PERSISTENT BANDS WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE.

IN ADDITION TO THE HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW... SOUTHWEST WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 45 MPH WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS AND WHITEOUTS FOR BRIEF PERIODS OF TIME. THERE WILL BE SIGNIFICANT BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW... ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS AND ON NORTH SOUTH ROADS. THERE WILL BE SIGNIFICANT BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW EVEN IN AREAS WHICH DO NOT RECEIVE THE HEAVIER LAKE EFFECT SNOWFALL. SOME NORTH SOUTH ROADS IN OPEN AREAS MAY BECOME IMPASSIBLE AT TIMES DUE TO BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

TRAVEL WILL BE EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS THROUGH TONIGHT DUE TO THE COMBINATION OF LOCALLY HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL... BE PREPARED FOR SEVERE WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS. LEAVE PLENTY OF EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION. TAKE EXTRA CLOTHING OR BLANKETS TO HAVE ON HAND IN THE EVENT THAT YOU BECOME STUCK.

WOO-FUCKING-HOO!!! I am going snowboarding tomorrow!! and maybe tuesday too!
