and......discuss!
I figured this one is a good one for the weekend being most of what we'll see is throwaway news anyway.

This isn't really news. People have been saying for a while now how wasteful bottled water is. Its not any better for you than tap water, whenever someone does a blind taste test no one can tell the difference, and it creates a lot of non biodegradable waste. I will buy some when I'm out of the house or office and want some water, but I never stock up my fridge with it, that just seems stupid.

Yeah, this really isn't new. Even if people don't want to drink water straight out of the tap, they can just get water filters and sports bottles and it's the same thing. Nevermind the environmental costs...it saves a ton of money.
Besides, like George Carlin said...what's "Evian" spelled backwards?

was it Carlin or Dennis Miller?
Nothing is wrong with NYC tap water for me.
I can't tell you how many of these things I've owned over the years:

I'm with Cupcakelove. If I'm on the road or in a pinch, I'll buy a bottled water....but otherwise they seem kinda silly.

I was hoping someone would remember the Lewis Black bottled water bit and throw out a few lines.
But that's the AC Press, always with the "controversy." I'm always shocked they're not beating the NY Times in sub numbers. But then again, Atlantic/Cape May County, NJ, is the most boring place on the earth to live.
As long as we still have bottled BEER, I don't care.

A Brita filter on my kitchen spigot was one of the best purchases ever. I refill my own bottles constantly - well, my family does. I don't drink as much plain water as I should.

The nalgene bottles are good, but my ecology teacher recommended the stainless steel bottles. He said that their is not even a hint of metallic flavor. But yeah, the disposable bottles are atrocious. Another tragedy of the commons.

ditto for me too. The co I work for can make really cool cups and containers out of PLA a corn derived resin that functions just as good as PET except the PLA is totally compostable and biodegradable. Problem is that supply of PLA is limited and consumer demand here in the states is limited. How much extra would you pay for a coke or bottle of water if you knew the container was biodegradable plastic? Just askin'...

Westchester water is also decent. I think we get our water from the same reservoirs. Jersey water isnt that good. It has a chlorine taste to it

I always drink plain tap water, but only from Styrofoam cups.

My new refrigerator has filtered water and ice. I don't know what I did before I wheeled that thing in. And I keep two two giant glass Budweiser mugs in the freezer to make my water drinking as refreshing as possible.

Tap water for me. If I do buy bottled, I buy water that came from nearby sources.

How can you tell? If I buy water when I'm on the road, it's usually WaWa brand. Is that local?
And the cool part is they have recycle bins outside of the store. I'm on the road all day, so I hang a plastic grocery bag on my glovebox latch to keep my trash in. When I get to a WaWa, I can just take it with me walking into the store, and before I go in, I can put my cans and bottles in the recycle, and the trash in the trash. Yahoo!

Yep, you got it. Chlorine and bleach. When we change the water for my daughter's hermit crab, you have to let the water stand in an open container for a couple days so the stuff evaporates.

All the bottles tell you the source. Since there are a lot of springs within a hundred miles of here, there are plenty to choose from.
