He ran up all excited and then nothing.
They waved me in, I even asked Lilly why they bothered calling me in.
But at least I was nominated for Best Villain and Best Listner. I was really expecting Best Feud, the others were just a shock.

That was done after the show. Fez got a Batman picture, V for Vendetta mask, and some kind of candy. Ron got a book on Urban Astronomy and Astronomy grade binoculars. Dave got the Wii Blaster, Super Mario Galaxy, and it's Strategy guide. I didn't see if there was anything else for anything else.

I hope they do away with the "awards" next year. The giving of the gifts is always the highlight of the Christmas show and it's a shame that all the people who post here and contributed money never got to hear what they got because the bit ran so long.
I hope they also rethink opening the doors to the public next year. I fully understand (and love) Ron and Fez's open door policy, but I think it's better when it's true hard-core fans there and not a free-for-all.

.
Maybe it was on purpose? (at least, left for a quick end segment).
Maybe something along the lines of a contribution to The heart&stroke foundation etc... in their names would be more appropriate? (count me in for any non-Costanza org)

I like the awards, they just should have done them the previous day. I thought I was just a hump for missing the presents, but I'm really disappointed to hear it never aired.
Then again, I didn't kick in any money, so really doesn't matter what I think.

How do you define "true hard-core fan"? I know people that have been listening to every minute of the Ron and Fez show for the past 9 years, but never called or went in studio. I like the open door policy. I think if you give a crap enough to show up, you're a big fan.

So you "fully understand" and "love" the open door policy? Yet you want them to stop doing it and only allow certain people next year?
that makes sense...
i agree if you care enough to make it into the city and visit a show you are a "hardcore fan" especially people like me who live about 4 hours away...i would love to make it to next years show but i have only been listening since they got to XM and i just started posting here and i cant make it to any R&F events so i wouldnt be allowed in...oh well

I was fine with the open door policy. It made for a festive and fun atmosphere. It was too bad that the senior superlatives ran long. Not necessarily because we didn't give gifts on the air (the majority of the listening audience probably has no interest in what gifts we give them), but because it made Ron & Fez's end of the year comments and wishes (always a highlight) seem rushed.

I agree that it's always a blast when you're there and there's a ton of people around. What makes for a good time in person doesn't always translate into good radio though. And I couldn't agree more about Ron and Fez's end of the year comments seeming rushed. They're usually heartfelt and powerful; this time around they tried to get everything out in 10 seconds and it was a bit anti-climactic.

My craptastic acceptance speech aside, it was an honor to be Jew of the Year for the year 2007. And big ups to everyone who makes this board great for letting us bring home the best board award this year.
And they knew we had the gifts, and they spent the whole last hour of the show doing the superlatives. shit happens. I was just away from stuff this weekend. I'll get the pics up this evening of the gifts. They really loved them.

agree with mikeyboy, as usual. i understand what gvac is getting at, and if long time fans couldn't get in, that would be disappointing, but i think the open door thing is consistent with ron and fez's long time philosophy that everyone gets to sit at the cool kids table, and also fit with what ronnie said at Thankgiving-- which is that if you listen to the show and get the show, then you could be a friend, and be sitting there with them.
i think spreading/sharing the love is always a good thing
as for the gifts, dont they always talk about not really being into the whole gift scene? i know that when you contribute to something, you want either some kind of recognition or at least to hear it discussed, but in all likelihood, they'll thank everyone for the gifts when they get back. they've always been about thanking people.
i was only able to hear the last 40 minutes of the show but i thought the awards were really funny, and fez's "acceptance" speeches were fantastic. i liked that they weren't too serious although i think a handful of the listeners took them a little too seriously.
im glad to see rf.net round out the awards as i've grown over the last year to love the people here, even though i dont post too often. while im feelin all warm and fuzzy, id just like to say happy holidays to everyone here at rf.net and ty for making me feel at home over the last year. you're a great bunch of people

They do, but generally at X-Mas time, they usually kinda just let that go and if people give them gifts, they just graciously accept them. Besides, we're a fan site, and as fans we just want to do something nice for the guys because not only do they entertain us, but as you said in your post, they make everyone friends, and just want to do something nice for our friends at the holidays.

Hello??? Is this thing on???
I really feel that no one is understanding what I'm trying to say.
Make no mistake - NO ONE loves Ron and Fez or the Ron and Fez show more than I do. And I'm not looking for accolades or a thank you. That's not who I am or what I'm about and I owe the boys far more than they could ever "owe" me.
I'm merely saying that for an end of the year show it was a bit disjointed and not what long time fans are accustomed to. I'm simply postulating that the bedlam that must have accompanied a studio full of fans may have contributed to that in some way.
Of course the show still managed to have some truly golden moments and Fez was on fire.
I'm not condemning Ron, Fez, mikeyboy, JustJon, or the show. And I'm not saying you have to be a fan for X amount of years to gain entrance to the studio. I just think a slightly more intimate crowd would have made for a better show.
