View Full Version : How has R&F changed your life?

I think it's safe to say for most people who post here Ron and Fez played some part in your life. That being said- How has Ron and Fez changed your life?
For me since listening to show regularly and posting on the board, I find that in my regular day to day life I try harder to make people laugh. I also find that I have more of an appreciation for the people in life who can make me laugh.
What about you?

Before Ron and Fez I had never beaten up a 9 year old. Now, I do it constantly. I also have a much higher rate of rape success since taking Ron Bennington's Rape Prevention Prevention class.

Allright, they're f-ing hialrious, that's a given. But then I find myself the rest of the day contemplating politics, relationships, religion, and philosophy. I generally find myself thinking more.

As for this damn place;
I have made some friends here that I never imagined I would have met. Some I know in real life, some are many miles away, but no less a friend. I would give these people my last dollar, if I felt they needed it more than me. (Sorry, I think I have something in my eye)

On a serious note, I've been with the show for a long time and back in the day I'd organize my work day around the show. When I was selling in upstate New York I routed myself so I'd be in range of the WNEW signal from noon to 3. I used to go to work exhausted when they were on overnights.
I've met some amazing people through the show, and no one is more surprised than me that this little community of ours is as close and wonderful as it is.

Four years ago, a friend in Portland told me those magic words: "The hosts are a recovering addict and a gay guy, and it's the funniest thing on radio, but not in our market, so you have to steal it on the Internet", and immediately, I loved the show.
I have met some amazing insane-o people- Moochie, Sleeves, Perry, Bobo, and K from the B included- and after sitting in on the show once, I was moved to start doing stand-up comedy at night.
18 months later, I'm exhausted, I come in to my highly paid day job hungover and apathetic, my husband hates me being out of the house and on the road, I've made less than legal minimum wage in Bahrain, all my friends are drunken reprobate comedians, and I fucking love it. I also get the opportunity for wonderful people on the internet and on this website to tell me that women aren't funny, me in particular.
Umm..thanks?

To be honest, it really has made the year great. While O&A bring me back to my later years in HS, R&F have taught me a lot. Lots of bands, movies, and authors come up on their show and because of it, I have become more eclectic. So yeah, they have changed it. For the freakin better.

the show has honestly turned me on to a lot of cool films and music. most importantly though, it is as if this show was created specifically for my sense of humor. in todays world it is hard to find smart and funny radio and ron and fez are exactly that. i have almost become militant in my pursuit to get all of my friends to listen to the show, and they all end up of loving it.

It's hard to pin it exactly because the show is full of humor, music, film, culture of all kinds--I've been entertained and learned a lot. I appreciate the "family" atmosphere, for instance, that can allow Earl to storm out of the studio without getting fired. Bennington's response to the caller that wanted Earl fired was golden. It led me to RonFez.net where I soon became humbled by members knowledge on any given subject. I've learned here too, and I know "I'm not a bad person.":devil2:

I plan my life around listening to their shows, and listening to Ron helped me decide to finally give up on my struggling business -- life is too short. Now I have my dream job where I get paid to help people with their fantasy sports teams.

I don't think I've ever taken the time to thank you and to tell you how much I not only appreciate your commitment, but to let you know how good you are on the show, so thanks.
Now fuck off.
P.S. You KNOW that the "passion" you speak of is your lust after my nutsack.

Ron and Fez taught me that comedy can be dangerous and at the same time humane, that I'm not as smart as I think I am and that we're all connected.
Also, in an odd way, they convinced me that procreating might not be such a bad idea after all...

I was a loveline listener back in the WNEW days (because I slept and still sleep with the radio on). One day, loveline wasn't on and it turned out to be Ron & Fez. Learned about some cool sites from their early DOT COM days. When they did the Hot Sauce contest (with Dave's Insanity Sauce), that is when I got hooked.

It has not changed my life, but, it has entertained it, although less so now with no talent Dave on the show.
I liked the show more in the old days, and I know we cannot have those back, but, late afternoon O&A and evening R&F really changed my life, since I listened to the radio for 8 hours a day!

I work 11pm to 7:30am. I listen live on my days off. Otherwise I record the show on my inno and it makes my nights at work go by sooooo much better, so much more easier. I'm litteraly a much more happy person at work now. Because of Ron & Fez I'm enjoying work. People there think there's something wrong with me, aske me if i'm on crack, cause I'm laughing and having a good time. Thank You Ron! Thank You Fez for making work bearable!

Well, My friend Ralph turned me on to Ron and Fez years ago "WNEW DAYS" I never thought I would ever be in studio or even talk to Ron and Fez years later. Any ways, after being a fan .. I heard Paul O mention "GAP" .. I offered my services to do a poster or dvd cover.. turns out, he made me part of the film and an assoc. Producer not to mention I did some special FX and makeup. From that, I got a great gig doing SFX and Makeup for " Zombie Hunters" ( A Zombie-Horror series) soon to be on QPTV ( Public access here in NYC) and on the net. Ron and Fez have changed my life for the better.. I owe them big and am ALWAYS down if they EVER need my help. Thanks Buddays!:thumbup:

OK..I rarely post but this is a good one.
When R and F came to WNEW it took me a little time...I was still listening to a denture and wig wearing disappointment in the morning. A couple of productive hours in the afternoon.
Then O and A in the afternoon. I listned on R and F's first day at WNEW and liked it. Sought of like when you realize that some orange drinks taste like St Joseph's baby aspirin, with none of those high shelves or pesky child proof caps.
But...I was already listeng to radio most of the day, did I want to get hooked at night too?
I have a family, responsibilities, proposals to type, customers to call...
Yes, you guessed it...after a few days I was sitting with 3 prerolled joints leaned back in my car seat, parked watching the tide roll in and listeng to the R and F from beginning to end.
Then came the the beginning of that awful time in my life, O and A were gone, R and F had a little run but theywere gone too.
So I had a choice, listen to Shnozzy, Rush Limbaugh, then Bob Grant or finally become a productive citizen again and reclaim my prior business mojo...
I had the best years of my life business wise...I was a killer, never late, not staying in the car till a radio break. Just focused and full of vigor.
Then O and A came to XM, never playing the stock market before I bought 750 shares of XM at $28.51, and bought, subscribed and liked XM immediately...no I LOOOVED IT!!!
I figured, I'll sacrifice my mornings for the boys and drive to my destinations during the last hour, and it worked, I laughed, laughed and laughed, and still was a business dynamo, all my family members were exceeding all theirs, and my expectations.
Then Ron and Fez came at 12 noon...I'm tired, part 2 tommorrow.

I learned that Fez has many different characters on the show, such as Cleveland Steamer; the Tugboat Captain, Egyptian Teabag; the Friendly Arab, and Pittsburgh Platter; the big Steelers fan.....and that Earl's nickname is Piss Straw.
