I'd Rather Not Deal With Christmas

Not to sound like a Scrooge... It's not that I "hate" Christmas and want to kill everyone who enjoys it... But basically every year, I can't wait for the whole thing to be overwith. It's all too much of a pain in the ass for me to deal with. But because of family gatherings, gift giving, and the likes, it makes it impossible to just take a pass on the whole thing. I would love to just avoid it alltogether, but I can't. Christmas is annoying.

I feel the same way with shopping and the "holiday" work parties, lunches and dinners. Traveling sucks. I do not look forward to traveling back with extra luggage.

BUT...


Right now I'm sitting near a roaring fire, enjoying a beautiful Christmas tree, a glass of wine and Christmas music is playing. Right now, is awesome.

So I'm loggin' off to enjoy it.

Some fella at a Walgreens in Fort Lee (allegedly) decided to give my credit card info either to himself or a buddy and they went on a Duane Reade/Rite Aid shopping spree racking up $900 before I got a call from the card company. Now I have no money on my card and can't buy anyone Xmas gifts.

Naturally I'm the asshole in everyone's eyes for not getting more than 3 christmas gifts on my limited budget.

I'm with you Z, and I actually can skip the whole thing. The missus and I are going upstairs to a cocktail party with friends in the building, but we don't have a tree, we bought ourselves a trip to Harbour Island and IPhones for Christmas, and we're just going to hang out and have a nice day tomorrow.

I think if you don't have kids it's just different, less important. I think family is really important, but I make a big effort to see them all year. Why now, when everything is so much harder? You see the news reports from the airports and you think "I'm so glad that's not me."

This the second time I have taken Christmas off, No presents no decorations no tree but I have the "luxury" of being 600 miles from my nearest relative so its a lot easier for me to get away with

I am with you about 90 percent. I like when someone enjoys what I get them, but I guess I don't really need a reason to get something for someone that I love. Today I went to go get a few groceries to make a green bean casserole tomorrow for the family and I watched a bunch of assholes zooming around looking for bargains and cutting each other off. This one woman almost took out this 70 year old guy's knee without looking at where she was going because she was checking out prices on milk while pulling a 180.
