I have a Creative 5.1 surround sound card, and a TV tuner card. I use my comp for the sound on my TV, because my speakers are way better than the one on the TV.

Anyway...

Last night I hooked up a Creative web cam. I've never had one, and had a $30 Circuit City gift card, so I figured, "what the fuck". Well... Since I installed it, the TV sound is now trying to come out of my wave function instead of just in my "line in" function. The sound is not synced with the "line in", so now I have a bad echo, unless I mute the "wave". Problem is, if I mute the wave, I can't hear any of my other computer sounds. I've been playing with settings for hours and get it right.

Any suggestions?

I don't know a solution or what the problem is but I do know that Creative is notorious for bloated, awful drivers and software.

I've always been happy with their sound cards and speakers. I've never dealt with a web cam before. It's really driving me nuts, though.

wasn't it some crazy webcam configuration that led anthony to shoot his computer (actually melinda's computer)

or was that just his manic love of firearm's, i get confused

Make sure the webcam doesn't have a microphone on it. If it does, you will have to mute it.

What I would guess happened is your webcam drivers fucked up your tv card drivers. Try re-installing the tv-card drivers

It does, but the mic doesn't work when the web cam is off.

That's the first thing tech support told me to try. I did it, and it totally worked... Until the next day, when the problem returned.

In that case, the only thing left to do is drop your pants in front of it and scare it into submission.

Ah good olde BT848. I love my Aver TV card. Still alive kicking. The Chinese version of the software/drivers allows you to schedule and record.

PLEASE IGNORE THE ABOVE POSTS!

I just didn't want to start a new thread for this. After rearranging my room, I finally got around to hooking up the rear speakers of my surround sound system last night. Everything worked great. Then I turned on my comp tonight, and the rear speakers aren't playing any sound.

It's weird. When I go to the speaker settings tool for my sound card, and test each speaker, they all work. But when I try to play any audio files, or listen to my TV through my comp, the rear ones don't work. I don't get it! They are working in the test mode, but not when for the rest of the shit.

It seams like I have a problem like this every so often. I try a bunch of shit, and I eventually get it fixed. But the next time it happens, I don't remember what I did the last time to make it work.:wallbash:

EDIT: Never mind. As I said before, I figured it out. As someone said above, Creative has some wacky shit with it. Just took some playing around.
