im once again renewing my intership at a local radio station by me.. and since the local show worked so well in the past im sticking with that format.. but im running low on cool up and comings in the ny/nj area.. do you guys have any local bands you support and can help get some play? if your into punk check out squiggy from newton nj. if your into ska.. check out catch 22 with their new singer (whom i havent heard yet. but i hear is awesome) if your into plain out rock.. check out homeless.. they are form my home town and are just starting to circulate.. the lead singer (one of my best friends) is actually homeless so try to support these guys if they come to a venue near you.

Now this is what I want you all to do:
If you got faults, defects or shortcomings,
You know, like arthritis, rheumatism or migraines,
Whatever part of your body it is,
I want you to lay it on your radio, let the vibes flow through.
Funk not only moves, it can re-move, dig?
The desired effect is what you get
When you improve your Interplanetary Funksmanship.

Yeah, there's some decent local bands around here.

Local H is the big one...
Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Jimmy's Chicken Shack were local, until they got big...

And I still dig some rock / alt groups like Emmett Swimming, Ebo, The Eccentrics, The Almighty Senators, Mary Prankster, Gingham Schmuz (although I think they just recently changed their name), and....

...of course, the best of the bunch - Godhead. I mean, DAMN. They're on tour with Gravity Kills! One of my fave industrial bands!

Wait....these are all local D.C. bands.

Oh well, maybe Perry can commiserate.

Hmm. Seems I was mistaken.

For some reason, I could swear they were local. Maybe because they have a rather sizable following here in DC and because, well, they always seem like they're here! They do gigs her all the time, or at least that's the way it seems to me. I've seen them in this area quite a bit, so I guess I just assumed they were local.

Either way, they're a great band.

2 Skinny J's is just about as hip hop as No Doubt or Limp Bizkit is...somewhere Kurtis Blow is rolling over in his grave...

i think they are far more hip hop then limp bizkit.. and when the fuck has no doubt even remotely hip hop?

I guess you haven't heard the atrocities they are planning to release <or may have released, I'm not really versed on my No Doubt release dates>, but it's soooooooooo wannabe new school hip hop, it's disgusting...apparently, if you want to make it in a band, you have to have your "hip hop" credibility...

If you want to talk hip-hop, and I mean true hip-hop, you go into the Run DMC's, the Tribe Called Quest's, the Pharcyde's...De La Soul, Beastie Boys, Jurassic 5, that's hip hop...2 Skinny J's? Not hip hop...

As for indie rock/punk...I hate to say it, but so much of it is really terrible, especially these days...there are very few groups that sound different from the bunch...I was always a big Ramones fan, and was into groups like The Germs & The Dickies...as I started into the more modern era, there was a great band called The Zoinks! that were really good...but then I heard nothing more of them...Cake Like were pretty cool too, but then their 3rd album sounded a bit too much like they were going for a Sarah McLachlan vs. Bikini Kill sound, and it didn't work for me...

It's not funny, my ass is on fire...
