man, there are not enough good things one can say about krs one. he's amazing, he really is...very inspirational. i've been privileged enough to meet the man on two occasions and he was incredible. he gives great speeches and i just don't understand where all of his optimism comes from.

has anyone heard anything by dead prez? dead prez and talib kweli are some great rappers to check out.

Yeah dead prez is tight, they brought it back to the days of public enemy, krs-one, NWA and others.
Talib Kweli is very underrated and his last album with Hi-Tek was pretty good

But anyone who wore a giant alarm clock on a chain around their neck was a great artist in my book.

Old school favs are Run DMC, Whoodini, Sugarhill, Afrika Bambata, Boogie Down Productions, Kurtis Blow, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Public Enemy, Ice T, NWA.

Current stuff: I can't stand any of the mainstrean Jay Z, DMZ, P Diddy type stuff. Its all too similar. They're all talkin about the same shit. It gets old after a while.
I like Mos Def, Reflection Eternal(Talib Kwalie and Hi Tek. Train of thought is the name of the album. Buy it NOW!) Kool Kieth, Del, Company Flow, Smut Peddlers, High and Mighty. And of coure ICP, TWIZTID, and BLAZE YA DEAD HOMIE JUGGALOS!

Wow! You're reffering to the song done by Nas? If so, you're the only white person that I know of who listens to hip-hop like that. "The Message" is just about an exclusive. Not many people heard it.

Run DMC and Public Enemy are tied for favorite my favorite rap group of all time. Dead Prez are good, but they need better production. There track with Talib Kwali on the Lyricist Lounge 2 CD is really good. Personally I think Talib Kwali's album (Actually the name of the groups with him and Hi Tek is reflection eternal) is on of the best rap albums to come out in years. The last song "4 women" is amazing.

Obviously, you've never listened to Nas, Tupac, or Rakem. They actually had more meaningful songs that spoke of their past and all the bad they did and how they tried to turn good.

Public Ememy remains the definitive rap group for me . .. such soothing, relaxing tunes. Terminator X kicked ass with those piercing sirens & relentless beats.

"I got a letter from the government/The other day/I opened and read it/It said they were suckers/They wanted me for their army or whatever/Picture me givin' a damn - I said never/Here is a land that never gave a damn/About a brother like me and myself."

Old skool: I like Run-D.M.C., Tribe Called Quest, LL Cool J, Cypress Hill, and Eric B. & Rakim
