I've been working on some comedy, and I was just curious if anyone knows of any comedy clubs in the immediate tri state area that would allow a 19 year old to go up on open mic night. It's been a dream for me to do this, and I'm finally getting around to it.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

We're gonna try and do an open mic night at my bar.
Soon as we get it more organized I'll let you know.

Man, anyone can go up on an open mic night. That's why it's an open mic. You might have to bring some friends, you might - make that will probably go up last - but you can go up.
Call around, find out which clubs have open mics on which night, and go there early. Talk to the manager or whoever is handling the line up and ask if you can do some time.
You can definitely do it. You SHOULD definitely do it. Just make sure to COMPLETELY MEMORIZE YOUR MATERIAL. PRACTICE IT OVER AND OVER. Read it out loud and time it, make sure you have 5 minutes. 5 minutes if you read it out loud. Don't assume any breaks for laughter or applause.
Then, when you do your set, do exactly what you've practiced. You're going to be freaked out and completely nervous, but it will go away after 30-45 seconds, and if you keep to your material the audience will listen. Don't bail on your material.
It's fucking awesome that you're thinking about doing it. Update us. Hell, if it's in the city, I'll go.

my friend did comedy shows at the Boston Comedy club, they let you go on igf you can bring 10 paying customers. It was cool Norton was just starting to be big and jim Gaffigan would perform , they would mix established Comedians with new ones

I don't think I'll be too nervous simply due to the fact that I've been performing inf ront of people since I was 6 with plays and stuff. I know it's a completely different game, but I've bombed with jokes in shows I did. Granted I didn't write the script.
I'll definately let you know if I find a palce in the city.

I have been hosting for Grouchos comedy club since January here in Florida. I found out earlier today that I am going to open tonight for 90's sitcom star, international celebrity, and hilarious funnyman Tom Rhodes!!! I am super pumped! Show is tonight @8.30 in Cocoa Beach.
If I don't completely stink up my set, I may post some video.

Drug used to treat impotence, approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in March 1998. Viagra works by blocking the enzyme phosphodiesterase, which breaks down cGMP, a relaxant of smooth muscle. The cGMP allows for increased dilation of blood vessels (dilated by nitric oxide) and it is the increase in blood flow that enables two thirds of men suffering from erectile dysfunction to achieve an erection. It must be taken about an hour before intercourse. Side effects include headaches and fainting (due to dilation of blood vessels), and blue-tinted vision. The inhibition of phophodiesterase in the eye may result in damage to the retina as a side effect of taking the drug.

By the end of 1998, the first year of its release, 5 million prescriptions for Viagra had been written (3 million in the first 14 weeks of its US release). At that time the US FDA announced that Viagra labels must list more side effects and a carry a safety warning stressing that the drug has not been proved safe for men with heart problems, following the deaths of 130 users in the USA since the drug's issue. Nevertheless, Viagra had the most successful first year of any drug ever launched. It reached $1 billion in sales on the first anniversary of its launch. By the end of 1998, sales of the pills, costing $7 each, amounted to $656 million in the USA alone; the total, including international sales, was $788 million. In 2005, it was estimated that 23 million men had received Viagra on prescription, with global annual sales amounting to (dollar)1.6 billion.

Not only was he on the show he has a history with Ron's club, like that was the first place he ever performed or something. Then he became a big talk show host in Amsterdam or something.

He did a pretty good special for Comedy Central where he went to Vietnam right after the US re-established relations with Vietnam and started allowing travel there again.
He was on one of the latest episodes of Marc Maron's podcast WTF talking about all these things, including the bad sitcom he was on and his talk show in Amsterdam. Pretty good stuff.

It was super cool. We hung out and talked about the florida comedy scene and we did talk about R&F and one certain hosts comedy club in particular. I told him he should be on Unmasked.

I don't remember making this thread.
I never did anything. I had three jokes and then gave up. They were more cringe worthy than funny.
