So are they just trying to see how far they go before the world goes to war against them

First the British soldiers now this

And Ahminjead (i know i butchered that one) has had a lot of bad press lately in Iran for not doing anything that he promised when he was elected and their economy is in rough shape

with the internal pressures from inflation, even his own backers are starting to distance themselves from ahmadinijad (wrong spelling but who cares). it could lead to a change, maybe someone a little more moderate. but goading another country into a fight to take the attention off internal matters, now that would be a plan. wait a minute...

I think that's what they wanted us to do and then say it was unprovoked.

Anyway, the spelling is Ahmadinejad.

We have two battlegroups there. They're just flexing their muscles a bit.

The embarrassing part about the British soldiers was it turns out the Iranians treat prisoners better than we do.
How humiliating is that?

This kind of crap has been going on for decades and is nothing new.

Back during the "Tanker War" we sunk a number of their speedboats as well as blowed the hell out of a small ship.
In the middle of it all an Iraqi fighter plane put a coupla missiles into one of our ships.
We had another ship hit an Iranian mine.
We shot down an airliner with a couple hunnerd civilians aboard.

In response, Ronald "Dutch" Reagan showed them both he meant business by rewarding them with weapons and top-secret intelligence from satellites and other aerial platforms, even going so far as to send CIA analysts over there to help-em understand our capabilities and limitations in this area of intelligence-gathering.

Good ol "Dutch."

Looks like our Dunce-In-Chief hasn't figured out that it was just such bullying, "shows of strength" and support of corrupt, oppressive regimes in the region is what inspired terrorists to attack the U.S. in the first place.

The Navy Commanders did exactly the right thing for the threat that was being shown to them.

If they were missle boats, a different protocol would have been taken. If the boats had gone in to a pre-determined distance known to those commanders and the crew, they would have fired a warning shot, then opened fire.

Looks like the Navy has done well in its post-USS Cole training. Damn proud of them.

The other night Ron Paul warned that the far right and right wing media would try to make this out to be more than it was. He called them speedboats, and I thought he was just simplifying. But as it turns out that is exactly what they were as opposed to the " Iranian ships opening fire" that were portrayed on Fox.

Not to make this about Ron Paul or anything.....

why do you continue to think using a nickname is an insult? it's kinda silly.

Wasn't that just a propoganda tool? I'd wonder if the U.S. Embassy hostages would agree with you on that assesment.

Which just goes to show you how dicey the situation is over there.

Source, please? The Iran-Contra deal is like Nostrodamus. Everytime someone wants to say something about Reagan, the deal with the Iranians becomes more and more incredible.

Good ol "Dutch."

Yep. Didn't have much to work with after the Carter blunders. All in all, he helped keep the price of oil rather stable in the 80s, which is more then could be said about Carter or Ford in the 70s.

Looks like he learned quite well. I didn't see any speedboats get blowed up on that tape.
And Islamo-Fascism uses the "bullying" and "occupation" reasons as excuses anyway. They are not interested in just kicking us out of the Middle East. They want world power, and will do and say anything to get it.

Hmm...how does writer of that cartoon likes the taste of crow since the National Intelligence Estimate was released a few weeks ago? Wonder what the next cartoon will look like...Bush pouting that he couldn't pull the wool over the public's eyes again? Now I understand why HW Bush has been on a crying jag for the last year...embarassment.
