I guess like anything else it just got a little tired, same writers day after day...
After two months off and Jon Stewart... not writing but I guess coming up with his own material....
It's not really improvised or anything, but it seems fresh again.
Colbert too, but not quite as much. The premise of the show is spoofy to begin with, so 'fresh' isn't really the same. Still, I'm glad they're back on.

When I was watching Colbert, I actually said out loud, "He needs his writers back". It was funny, but the best part of that show is his schtick about being a O'Reilly-esqe asshole. It seemed like he dropped that, and just did Daily Show. That's all it seemed to be missing. Daily Show was good, though.

"If my math is correct, the writer's strike is now nine times worse than September 11th."

It doesn't seem like much has changed, except Jon has way contempt for Viacom now.

Colbert's show is so far a LOT funnier than I thought it would be. His show is so chaacter and script-driven...but then again, the guy made his bones doing improv, so I guess I was underestimating him.
