Seriously?? He was a HUGE anti-semite. Jeremy Schapp of ESPN interviewed him when he was in Iceland or someplace like that. Apparently Schapp's father used to be a friend of Fischers'. Called his fathers a 'typical back-stabbing jew like the rest of them'.

He also applauded the attack of the terrorists of 9/11 on the USA.

That was an incredible story.

If I remember correctly, Dick Schapp met Bobby Fisher on a NYC street outside Madison Square Garden, looking for the subway. He was alone, scared and lost. Dick helped him out. They actually became good friends, as Schapp became almost a father figure to him throughout his years. But then when Bobby got older, he started getting nutso... and he developed his anti-semitism. It was very heartbreaking for Schapp.

After Fisher moved to Iceland, Jeremy Schapp went there to ask him about his father, and as Justice said above, it didn't go well.

But Jeremy ended the story with a great line that went something like "I found Bobby Fisher exactly how my father did: Alone, scared and trying to find his way home."

Bobby Fischer was a genius, a great talent at chess, and probably could have done greater things with his brain. If anything I say it's a damn shame he wasted his mind the way he did, and a shame our government persecuted him for the 1992 match in Yugoslavia, which obviously fomented his anti-US feelings.
