Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reports WCMF's owner Entercomm and Brother Wease cannot come to an agreement on his contract negotiations. Therefore, Entercomm releases Brother Wease from WCMF after 23 years of being on the radio. Sad day in radio.

I grew up listening to the guy. He's too "left" for me, but I like him. I thought he killed when he did the SNV last year and he hates Stern in ways the O&A cannot understand. It makes sense for Wease to join XM to put the hippie spin on the Virus.

Pull some strings? as far as I can tell on saturday nights there's a sign in front of XM saying "national radio show open house, help yourself, homeless welcome, free crackers and ginger ale".

XM needs paperwork to get money for a lie detector, let alone start a new channel for a guy who was just in one market.

R&F fans have been wanting an R&F only channel for a while. Never happened. I think Wease will have guest spots on SNV, but he probably won't be in play until the merger is over.

Living near Rochester, and growing up with wease, I am saddened by this....however I would expect he will be back on in Rochester in a few months on a different channel.

I dont understand how a company could be so stupid to ditch wease and the other dj's that have been staples of rochester radio for 20 years...without wease WCMF will fail and flip formats within 1 year, GUARANTEED...

XM is not in a position to be hireing and adding channels with this stupid merger coming. I expect r+f and o+a to be gone when the merge is complete....with Mel at the helm Howard is the golden boy and the buddays are gone.
