Starbucks will close 7,100 stores nationwide for three hours on the evening of Feb. 26 to retrain about 135,000 in-store employees and people who oversee the stores.

Starbucks began informing workers over the past couple of days. It will close company-operated stores from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. local time Feb. 26.

So how will everyone take this news? Are protests / lawsuits planned?

Will this work or will it just stay the same?

Back in the 90's a company I worked for asked us all to come in on a Friday night for retraining... retraining consisted of emptying our desks and getting escorted from the building...

So you don't drink coffee, but you make it at your house? And you have an espresso machine at your house?

A normal coffee at Starbucks is the same price as Dunkin Donuts. I never understand why everyone always says, "OMG Starbucks is so expensive!!1!~!1!" Their specialty drinks are more expensive, but so aren't any other coffee shop's, including Dunkin Donuts and their $4 Lattes.

in this liberal world, somebody will sue for being inconvienced (sp), and some stupid jury will award them.

Do you drink caffeinated tea? My wife drinks decaf tea, and it seems weird to me that someone would want to drink something hot that doesn't have liquor or caffeine in it.

- wait, nevermind. I forgot about hot chocolate. That shit is the bees knees.

You proved your own point, doesn't hot chocolate have almost as much caffeine in it as tea ?

It's really a combo of these 2 points (IMO). People are tired of paying high prices for products they can make at home or get elsewhere. Starbucks went through such booming growth that they F-ed up their training practices and the product quality dropped.

From the article:

The retraining is part of Starbucks' plan to revive its brand and sales growth, which by one measure sank to an all-time low last quarter. Chairman Howard Schultz last month returned as chief executive to oversee the turnaround...

"The equity of the brand is based on the experience they create, and we want to unleash that creativity and that passion. They have it. We just have to give them the tools and the resources for it to come out."

In other words, Starbucks is trying to save it's own ass after f-ing up their product and service. I quit going there a long time ago because of their crappy service and crappier products.

Once again the liberal left of RF.net shows it's face and oppresses and stomps on the right because they feel that their views are the correct ones and all others need to follow their lead. This place is worse than Berkley.

No matter what your political beliefs are, you constantly post misleading topic names. What the fuck does that have to do with liberals?

stew leonard's, for those in the area, is using this opportunity to give away coffee (http://www.stewleonards.com/press/08FreeCoffee.cfm). pretty smart move, even without being a competitor of starbuck's.
