I have become obsessed with the movie "the life and time of Judge Roy Bean." and to spoiler alert a 40 year old movie, he dies at the end. I started thinking that Paul Newman dies alot at the end of his movies. More then any other big name actor that I can think of. I can come up with at least 4 movies that he has died in. Is he the most well known actor that dies the most at the end of his movies?

John Wayne comes to mind.

Reap the Wild Wind (1942)
The Fighting Seabees (1944)
Wake of the Red Witch (1949)
The Sands of Iwo Jima (1949)
The Alamo (1960)
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962)
The Cowboys (1972)
The Shootist (1976)

Does Steve Buscemi count as "big name?"

The Big Lebowski
Fargo
Desperado (I think he dies in this one. Can't remember for sure.)
Reservoir Dogs (A lot of people including myself assume that he dies at the end.)
Miller's Crossing

Also, didn't his character on the Sopranos get killed off as well?

The above probably have him beat, but when I saw the question I immediately though of:

Burgess Meredith.

and Steve Buscemi is DEFINITELY a big name!

Reservoir Dogs (A lot of people including myself assume that he dies at the end.)

He doesn't. Depending on the quality of the version you see, the sounds after he takes off include car noises and a bunch of shots and them cops yelling at him to drop the weapon and surrender and him yelling back that he's giving up.

I thought Buscemi is the only one to survive in Reservoir Dogs..

Hamey,
When it was released... it was kinda implied that the cops shoot Mr. Pink when he leaves the safehouse.
On the DVD though... there's some speculation that he can be heard "surrendering".

So, I guess it's up to the viewer.

It's not just the DVD. I always remember hearing the cops yelling at him to drop the gun and surrender after he runs out on the video and TV versions I saw back in the day. It's always been there. It's even in the script:

Mr. Pink is standing motionless. Finally he grabs the
satchel of diamonds and RUNS out the door.

We hear outside a CAR START. Then the SOUND of a BULLHORN
yells out:

POLICE FORCE (OS)
Freeze! Get out of the car and lie
face down on the ground!

MR. PINK (OS)
Don't shoot!

Over the years, and even right now, I've listened to the closing scene a squillion times. I just can't help but think that Pink gets shot to death.

All the bad guys die. That's kinda how I think it went down.

These bank robbers are responsible for a lot of deaths. "Dead cops, dead robbers, dead civilians..." and then, once the cops ascend on the warehouse, there's an awful lot of gunfire.

Even with headphones on about the only thing I can really make out is one of the OS cops yelling at Pink about "you like shooting cops?!" or something to that effect.

I'm aware that the original script ends with him saying "don't shoot" but, that doesn't mean that he lives. It would be in keeping with the rest of the movie if the cops shot him anyway. Execution style.
Good guys win.
Crime doesn't pay.

Yada yada yoda.

I would say Denzel Washington; Training Day, Deja Vu, Man on Fire, Fallen, Malcolm X, Glory.

Jere's the full Buscemi list:

onesome Dove (1989) [Luke]: Scalped, along with Frederick Coffin and Glenne Headly, by a band of Native American warriors. (Thanks to Iron Major)

Miller's Crossing (1990) [Mink]: Shot in the face (off-screen) by John Turturro; his body is shown afterwards, but due to its unrecognizable condition, it's mistaken for John.

Tales from the Crypt: Forever Ambergris (1993) [Ike]: Dies of an exotic leprosy-like flesh-eating disease in the jungle, after Roger Daltrey tricks him into going into an off-limits area.

Twenty Bucks (1993) [Frank]: It's been some time since I've seen this movie, but I believe he was shot in the chest by Christopher Lloyd while sitting in a car with him.

Desperado (1995) [Buscemi]: Stabbed in the chest when Danny Trejo throws a couple of knives at him, while Steve is talking to Antonio Banderas on the sidewalk. (Thanks to Val and Matthew)

Homicide: Life on the Street: End Game (1995) [Gordon Pratt]: Shot to death (off-screen) by an unknown assailant; his body is shown lying in the street afterwards. (Although it was implied that one of the detectives had killed him, with Richard Belzer being the most frequently-speculated suspect, the killer's identity was never actually revealed.)

Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead (1995) [Mister Shhh]: Shot in the chest with a shotgun by Treat Williams; he manages to shoot Treat in return before dying. (Thanks to Tal and Val)

Fargo (1996) [Carl Showalter]: Hacked to death with an axe by Peter Stormare outside their cabin hide-out; the scene cuts away as Peter is bringing the axe down. His body is (partially) shown afterwards when Frances McDormand discovers Peter stuffing him in a woodchipper. (Thanks to Vesper, Val, Katherine, Mat, Matthew)

The Big Lebowski (1998) [Donny]: Dies of a heart attack outside the bowling alley. (Thanks to Val and Matt)

Domestic Disturbance (2001) [Ray Coleman]: Stabbed in the back with an icepick by Vince Vaughn in Vince's car, while Matt O'Leary looks on in shock while hiding in the backseat. (Thanks to Mathew)

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (2001; animated) [Officer Neil Fleming]: Killed when one of the alien spirits forces his spirit out of his body. (Thanks to Mathew)

The Sopranos: All Due Respect (2004) [Tony Blundetto]: Shot in the head with a shotgun by James Gandolfini. (Thanks to Gary)

The Island (2005) [McCord]: Shot in the chest by one of Djimon Hounsou's men; he then falls over a balcony.

This is exactly how I've always felt. Everybody dies, isn't that the point?

Back to topic, Robert DeNiro has died a lot. But then, he's made a lot of movies. The winner is probably some star from the 30's and 40's, like Humphrey Bogart.

"died" six times in Highlander(5 in a Duel) more in sequals..and finally in the Series
and numerous other times in Mortal Kombat,
Greystoke, Sicilian, Beowulf (1999),

Harold Ramis, the director, says he lives the same day for 10 years.

On screen, there are 34 separate Groundhog days.
