This is a Dell Inspiron 1420 It costs 1495 with tax and shipping. it is a pretty diesel system. What do you guys think of this?

I have a very similar system. I have a 1420 with a slower processor, less RAM, smaller hard drive. I have th same video card though. It works great for me. Decent battery life, I'd say I get about 3-4 hours when using power saver, maybe even more. I'd probably bet more if I shut off wireless, but I've needed the internet whenever I went without the power cord. You'll probably get a little less with a faster processor.

Since you are getting that video card I assume you want to play some games. It's not a monster. I doubt you were expecting that though. But it still good enough. I can play any of the Half-Life games on there at max resolution (mine is 1280x800). ANd that's from Half-Life 1 all the way to Half-Life 2 episode 2 including Portal and Team Fortress 2. You should be able resolution just fine with your beefier hardware. It's a good setup up.

I haven't tried anything more than that. I've been meaning to install Bioshock. I'll do that and tell you how it runs. That should give you an idea of it would handle more demanding games. Don't even think about trying to run Crysis however.
