"We're going to keep working for eighteen months and then we're out of here," said Don Geronimo after his latest struggle with CBS Radio management.
Mike vowed that eighteen months from December 03, 2001, The Don and Mike Show would no longer be on CBS Radio.
Is....is it true? Can this be for real?
Oh please, if there is any such thing as any sort of deity, I pray that this is the case.
It'll be another 18 months of hell and torture, but perhaps there is a light at the end of this dark tunnel.

While I agree with you, Let me offer these words.
Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.
Bear in mind, if they go (and I'm not opposed to it mind you) someone takes their place obviously. And I can't think of anyone else that will take their place.
Radio Chick? Unlikely, she's been fired twice. They won't make that mistake 3 times. While I liked her show better than D&M, it just ain't gonna happen.
More Lovelines? God fucking forbid!
Tom Leykis? Get me the big knife, I'm gonna cut my throat.
Perhaps those talks of Bill O'reilly may manifest since there will be a timeslot to fill.
Cuz it sure isn't going to be The Black Rock Coalition.
P.S. You might want to see what the retards at NYRMB think, you know, dentists know everything.

Fake radio posturing. Don and Mike are just pissed they got screwed out of Afternoons by the force that is O&A and Bambozled by management into the midday deal and promised things that were never intended to happen.
Bah to it all!

I wonder if this is as real as when Howard Stern kept saying he was going to retire after his contract ran out last time. I don't mind them at middays so much but it seems D&M have problems being team players and not getting what they want.

Dan hit the nail right on the head in his post. D&M feel they were screwed by O&A, and they are making empty threats to try and swindle radio politics.
IT'S TIME TO PLAY THE GAME-AHHH!

i wouldn't be surprised. as bad as they are, Infinity pretty much told them 'you guys suck, your on the way out' when they moved them out of the afternoon drive slot that were number one in for years and shoved them to middays.

This just in from the NYRMB:
Good evening Mr and Mrs America, from border to border and coast to coast and all the ships at sea. Let's go to press.
Word has it that a long time radio station will have a newline up.
I don't want my ideas to sound half baked but rumors have it that a kid and a brother will take alec (a lick) at the air waves donning the time slot from another long time property.
Wat else did I hear? Another duo at the station might have a stern lecture. If they move, will their ron in New York be finished?

While I agree that this is all radio posturing, my theory - and hope - is that this is just Don's way of seeing the writing upon the wall and trying to save some face.
He has to realize that his ratings are less than stellar (and have taken a hit in other markets that he previously did well in, due to the fact that the show is tape-delayed now). He has to know that the dominant opinion in the company (if not on the street) is that the D&M show is NOT the future of CBS radio. In two years, it could very well be CBS who says, "C-ya, we don't need or want you anymore." And so this is a way to save face. "I'm leaving because I want to leave." It'd be a nice little spin to put on the fact that they're gone after another 18 months, either one way or another.
Frankly, I don't care. I would just like them gone.
