They show montages of Hollywood moments/movies every year. It's meant to celebrate the tradition of the Academy Awards. Given it's the 80th Academy Awards there's even more reason to have such montages.

It wouldn't be the end of the world. Michael Clayton is outstanding and he's fantastic in it.

Whenever the Coens win an Oscar, the world seems a little less terrible.
