I live in CT and as much as i bitch that it sucks its close to nyc and there are no earthquakes. Plus you get some snow for boarding. I say pick CT, just dont move out of Fairfield county, otherwise its all hicks & tractors.

sf and the east bay are great places to live, the rest of california (except a few parts of LA) is sort of a waste.

I'll agree with all of what Gwen said. Newtown/Bethel are still in Fairfield County, but edging ever closer to the hicks and trailers. So be careful.

How did you narrow it down to those two states?

i lived in LA for five years while going to college at calarts. its a nice place to visit but i wouldnt want to live there forever. the people are generally speaking shallow, and they all have scripts, the architecture sucks, the traffic is worse then the LIE, only 2 really good musuems, nowhere to walk to, the subway is useless, well i could go on and on. upstate is a completely different story from what i'm told i've never been. it all really depends what you want to do as far work goes. is either one better for your work?

ive lived in nor cal and so cal. if youre worried about cultural activities, stick with sf or oakland. but then again, compared with CT, Id probably take anywhere in CA.

I would definitely live in CA.
Actually, I'm moving there in March, so it's a likely response. I used to live in Connecticut - BORING!!! I felt so uncomfortable because there were too many white people (and I'm a cracker-ass-cracker).

I refer to Connecticut as "Honky Heaven"

RF Mark, how many times must I tell you, I don't live in CT, I am from NJ!!!!
Now nellie, I am an East Coast born and raised Jersey boy. I have been to CA before and I have to say, I am not impressed. Fairfield CT is beautiful, I would move there if I were you. However, if you can't decide between the two, COME TO NJ!!!!! Yea jersey!

IT'S TIME TO PLAY THE GAME-AHHH!

I agree! I came SO close to
moving there but the job fell
through! If you're earthy
crunchy I suggest Berkeley!
It's a college town,
affordable, and a short BART
ride to SF!!

move to nova scotia

Oh sure girl germs! Canada is
your answer for EVERYTHING! ;-)

ESNewport, I know Bridgeport isn't exactly whitey, but I'm talkin' bout rural n' burbs, not ghetto n' urbs.

I definitely wouldn't wish Bridgeport, New Haven or even Hartford on my worst enemy, but If I had to choose those towns over any Jersey cities, I'd choose CT in a heartbeat.

My family had a summer home near Bethel, in New Fairfield, and there's not a nicer area. Plus, Candlewood Lake!

I hear the real estate in Afghanstan is dirt cheap. You can get the biggest tent on the block for 23 cents.

Be sure to pack a radiation suit though!

i grew up in connecticut and its very close to nyc which is good, its beautiful but fairfield county (the closest area to nyc) is the most expensive plave to live in the country (real estate wise). the problem with ct is that there isnt much of a night life cause its so close to nyc, everyone just goes there. crime is very low (although if you saw it on the news about the lady who went and shot up an employment agency yesterday, shes my neighbor, i saw her get arrested last night) its a wonserful place to raise kids cause its so safe but its snobby and boring. AND as a side note i live in the city of the headquarters of the WWF and ive seen vince on the street before
