Tonight on TNN it will start showing and end tommorrow. I have not actually seen this movie in its entirety so I am so jacked its finally going to be shown. I'm too cheap to buy the DVD by the way.

Damn, 24, Smallville and Godfather, what should I choose?

i just bought the guy i'm dating the godfather dvd gift set for xmas (well one of his presents depending on how good he is..hehe)

anyway i hope he likes it..he's just like most men and obsessed with those movies, and he has most of the other ones like it...and this set has a extra dvd with shit on it...umm...yeah i'm happy i got a good gift..that is all

You call the "Godfather" culture? Please, it's a fairly decent movie but to think that a film about murderous, cheating, lying gangsters is cultural- well, I'm sorry- you're wrong-simple!


Now this is not just a series of films about a murderous bunch of gangsters. It's alot more than that. This is a history lesson. It chronicles what life was like in New York City from the turn of the century through the late 1940's. How the immigrant community came to be and how it was it's own little world. How Little Italy was created. How people's names were thrown out the window at Ellis Island. How corruption of political figures ran rampant. How narcotics distribution came to play in New York City.

While this IS done by mostly "murderous gangsters", it also happens to be how things were. While it is all "fictional", change the names and faces, and it parallels what life was like for that time and place for many immigrants, specifically, but not limited to, Italians.

I suggest you watch Godfather I & II again and see it from a historical perspective. Don't bother with III, it sucks, it should never have been made.

Now don't forget the life lessons to be learned also.

"Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer"
