You're right man I don't know what I was thinking. Funny though that I listened to a show of your's from right after your first shift on Free FM right after the current one. Still great show as always.

Yeah you're a queer. Life with a significant other isn't about good times or bad times but shades of goodness or agony at all times.

After listening to Jivin going to see the orchids on his only day off, I am changing my stance on the whole Jivin/Lilly breakup and I am now siding with Lilly.

What a puss.

After being called out (as that guy from Florida or Ohio??), I feel like I need to defend my pick of the Rentals 2nd CD, Seven More Minutes (http://www.last.fm/music/The+Rentals/Seven+More+Minutes).

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00000IFSZ.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

First, 1999 was a pretty week year for music as far as I'm concerned.. The only other "album" I have that I would consider is When Your Heartstrings break (http://www.last.fm/music/Beulah/When+Your+Heartstrings+Break) by Beulah, which is solid, but I really feel like I go to this cd more.

So, I took Jivin's advice, and gave it a critical listening, from beginning to end, really trying to be objective as possible. I got about 5 tracks in, completely standing my ground. The first 5 tracks are all at least as solid as anything on Return of the Rentals.

I still think Getting By one of the best songs the Rentals have recorded:
<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/F2O8S87Qibc"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/F2O8S87Qibc" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

Yes, the album loses some of the retro futuristic moog sound of the first one, but I think a followup album that sounds just like the first (http://www.last.fm/music/The+Strokes/Room+on+Fire), is almost more dissapointing than one that falls flat trying something new. I love the first rentals album, but I almost think it can be little too moog-heavy, and almost verges on novelty.

After the first 5 songs, the wheels do start to fall off a bit. The fact that this cd is 15 tracks long really hurts. Matt Sharp was clearly in love with everything he recorded, and decided not to cut any of it out. The album slows down, gets weird, speeds up, then slows down even more. I'll admit, Big Daddy C and Insomnia are garbage, and a waste of time.

I will admit, it's not a great album as a whole.. but for 1999, it's still up there. After listening to it in its entirety, I may rethink replacing it with Beulah (http://www.last.fm/music/Beulah/When+Your+Heartstrings+Break) as my 1999 choice. It's not the same album as Return, but it has its strengths, most of which are in the first :20 minutes.

Great Album: No.
Worst Album Ever?: No.

I remember Peggy from previous shows and I'd love to hear her on the show again. The fact that she still listens to you guys, in spite of what happened, says a lot about the kind of person she is. More Peggy please :)

They just end up saying "Oh you guys!" and try to steer the conversation as to why men are stupid and are supposed to read their minds and take their crap when they have their periods.

The Rentals second album ranks just behind "The Empire Strikes Back" in things I can talk about until I pass out from fatigue.

It's probably a result of my own expectations that I now hate that album so much... but like i said, it takes my personal award for "most disappointing album ever."

OK, I'm nowhere near finishing the show but I had to finally post to address something:

CT... I'm not sure why the bald spots on your neck are a problem.. you should be shaving your neck if you have a beard anyway.

Ok, clearly you're not understanding the gravity of the situation...not to mention calling Jivin's opinion into question as well since he can attest to it. You untrusting bastard.

It's not precisely "neck." Perhaps that word is misleading you, thought i couldn't label these two particular tracts of flesh anything else. It's a region that is just the other side of the jawline, directly down from the corners of my mouth.

Trust me when I say, where there WOULD be hair as part of any normal beard, I literally cannot grow hair in two key spots.

I am not going for some hideous George Lucas beard (one more thing I hate about that guy), where the beard slams on the breaks the second you're at the jawline.

This to me is a solid beard:

http://www.davisonshire.org/Thomas/postcards/uploaded_images/Beard2-760553.jpg

This is some hideous shit:

http://img.slate.com/media/1/123125/2067927/2114141/2129224/051107_dvd_GeorgeLucasEX.jpg

I could probably pull off a Lucas... but the second i saw that "beard" in the mirror when finishing shaving, I would continue using the blade, but to slit my own throat and wrists and jump into a warm bath.

Don't feel bad CT, all I can manage is a scruffy looking Joe Dirt / Daron Malakian looking thing. I grow it out on purpose because it seems to annoy people and I love annoying people. Better yet I am self employed so I can't get fired for it.
