I would like to preface this thread by saying thank you to everybody for posting in my b-day thread. Its a good feeling to be accepted even though I talk funny and live in the central time zone.

Last Sunday my mother in law called the ambulance because of chest pain and shortness of breath. She has emphysema, asthma, and a mild case of pneumonia. When the EMT's were wheeling her down her driveway they hit a crack and spilled her onto the concrete. The result: 3 broken ribs and a punctured lung. Given her ailments, a punctured lunge does not bode well for her. Add a few mini heart attacks and we are all caught up to speed.

Last November I bought tickets to a festival in Chicago celebrating my all time favorite movie, The Big Lebowski.

The festival starts tonight. My mother in law is currently undergoing an angiogram. I am home with my kids while my wife is with her family.

I know that my mother in laws situation trumps my birthday. I don't think that I am insensitive for thinking about myself.

I am just a little depressed.

Worst birthday ever.

Uggh.

Sorry to hear about the situation, but don't feel bad about thinking about yourself for a bit. It's a natural reaction. We'll hit the virtual bar tonight.

 I'm very sorry to hear about you're mother inlaw's extreamlybad luck..That's a tough one..You're not insensitive for having these thoughts bro, not at all. Plus, this is exactly the place to discuss them..Not to mention try and come up with a solution that suits everyone. Let's think..How about a babysitter or a relitive in the area?.. It is your birthday and exagent circumstances do exsist, this qualifies you for short notice exception.. I'm sure if you addressed your child care issues you could find a date to this curious Bi Lobo Fest....How old are they? Is there any chance they could come with you?...How fat are they? Is there anyone you could you fax them to?...There's answer in here somewhere..It's not gonna happen if you don't make it so.. I guess it all depends on how badly you wanna go.. It doesn't make you a bad person to wanna salvage some enjoyment out of what has clearly been a difficult time and a shitty birthday..And you don't even have to mention any of these feelings to your wife if you don't want to.. She has her own emotions to wrestle with..Don't forget.Count your blessings, they are many..Keep your chin up tiger, I mean rhino.. I always get my animals of the Serringeity inverted.. If you need someone to talk to, you can alway P/M Majikman. If he can't help you're S.O.L., but you can still P/M me (no homo)..

I thought people only got dumped off of stretchers in very predictable comedies, not reality. The EMT's must feel like douches.

Thank you all for your kind sentiments.

I think that 1 of 3 things could lift me out of my bad birthday funk.

1. Gvac breaks lent and posts in my b-day thread

2. Someone gets me a plane ticket so I can make it to the bar night.

3. Fat_Sunny posts in my b-day thread.

It's a tough break, man. But you are doing your duty to the wife and kids. My birthday isn't going to be much better. No bar night for me. No kissing moochie goodbye. Watching Curious George and sipping some beers. Plus the Mrs. is "out of commission', so...

Don't worry, our day will come. Buck up and have a drink on me. Or head over to envirogatos's for another one. He has a mansion, you know.

I'll be here later on tonight if you want to vent. Maybe we'll get a chat going.

Happy Birthday, brother.

Mother in law did well in her procedure and looks like things are getting better for her.

I am going to drown myself in Corona which isn't a bad thing.
