View Full Version : The Blowhard is mentally unstable

Has there ever been more telling evidence than today's show?
He pretends to not hear over the phone and yells at everyone.
He wanders aimlessly through his Chinese Brooklyn neighborhood, barking at little children.
He has named his only plant "Eddie" and talks to it on a regular basis...to help keep his sanity.
I think he needs to get out and enjoy the world a little more. It's obvious that he only talks to himself all day.

He's not mentally unstable, he's just plain boring. He's like my grandpa who talked about the good ole days and jolt out tedious facts. Well you know what grandpa, it's time to move on and embrace the future.

Blowhard is stuck in 1956.. When cars had fins, AM radio was king and African Americans were coloreds.. Some people refuse to progress with the times..He has a lot knowlage to impart on others but when he starts to spoutin' his antiquated and obsolete views he comes across as a fucking loon..It's nothing a little "culture shock therpy" can't handle..

Remember when you ran away and I got on my knees and begged you not to
leave because I'd go berserk?? Well...
You left me anyhow and then the days got worse and worse and now you see
I've gone completely out of my mind.. And..
They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!
They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa
To the funny farm. Where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be
happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats and they're
coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!!!!
You thought it was a joke and so you laughed, you laughed when I had said
that loosing you would make me flip my lid.. RIGHT???
I know you laughed, I heard you laugh, you laughed you laughed and
laughed and then you left, but now you know I'm utterly mad... And..
They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa,
They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa.
To the happy home. With trees and flowers and chirping birds and basket
weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes and they're
coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!!
I cooked your food, I cleaned your house, and this is how you pay me back
for all my kind unselfish loving deeds.. Huh??
Well you just wait, they'll find you yet and when they do they'll put you
in the ASPCA, you mangy mutt!!! And...
They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa.
They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa.
To the funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be happy
to see those nice young men in their clean white coats and they're coming
to take me away, ha-haaa!!!
To the happy home, with trees and flowers and chirping birds and basket

I'll admit I was a little frustrated at the Blowhards call today.
That's like ugly people telling me they are treated the same as I am when out in public.
I assume they aren't but I can't argue that point cause they are the ugly ones and they should know. I mean, I could argue it... but if I do I sound ignorant. I wouldn't want to sound ignorant by arguing the merits of a situation I know nothing about.
But I still listen to them.... Cause ugly people need attention too.

Blowhard's not mentally unstable. He's just a passionate man.
Look my cousin was shot and killed by an off duty police officer, but I would feel much safer walking past a group of cops, then I would a group of hooligans. Whether they were black, white, brown, or fucking green.
I've been pulled over for fitting a discription several times. I've had to wait on the side of the road to be I.D.ed by victims. Yet STILL I trust and respect a police officer in most situations. These are people risking their lives and doing a service for the saftey of our communities. If you are innocent, respectful, and cooperative then you have nothing to fear.

The Blowhard reminds me of my dad...he laments the loss of the old Times Square porno theaters and hookers in a perverted creepy sort of way, and repeats back everything heard from listening to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Bob Grant and Laura Ingram.
I especially enjoy how everyone, who doesn't share the agreed upon opinion that WABC and FNC formulated for him, is grouped into "the Left", like it's the fucking Black Hand. Spotting these weak-minded dittoheads is like shooting ducks in a pond, just listen for five minutes into the counter-argument, and note if the words "liberals" or "the Left" are used. "Oh, this country is doomed because of the liberals." This labeling is meaningless. All I've been able to cull from 770 and FNC is that the people who call themselves "conservatives" like to send other people's kids to fight wars paid for by credit card for the sake of perpetuating fear, like to point out the ethnicities of other people and group them together and degrade them, like to pontificate about the importance of family values while they do exactly the opposite of what they promote, and like to denounce any action other people take to help out their fellow man, IE SS, healthcare, civil rights, infrastructure, just so that they can spend more money on wars and security.

Two things kill me about ya, Blowhard.
1. You stink at debating, you stink at arguing. All the rules of logic are out the window. Essentially, every discussion you have on the radio is you building straw men and burning them down. You're constantly putting words in other people's mouths and then refuting them. It's so frustrating to listen to if you want to hear a real debate.
2. The AM radio "left vs. right" world view. The world is not a struggle between the forces of good and the forces of evil. But, that's the way AM talk radio makes their money.

I've got to step in and defend my buddy for a minute. While I'll confess that I didn't hear the entire phone call, I believe what Blowhard was saying is that you can't generalize an entire group of people (such as the police) and then cry racism when other people do the same thing to your particular group.

Probably not surprisingly, but I always see this type of reasoning as a complete cop-out since the two groups really aren't comparable in terms of, well, everything. Arguing that the shitty racist history of this country is somehow similar to the opinions towards over-powered men and women in a chosen civil servant profession doesn't really seem to compute.

How exactly does one pity "pathetic social misfits on the internet" by being a pathetic social misfit on the internet?
I don't believe in sweeping generalizations of any particular group Mojo.

Again, it's just not even comparable to me. It just doesn't even carry the same weight. Who cares if you call Cubs fans jackasses? Cubs fans and cops choose to be what they are. People can't pick their races. There's a massive difference between being critical of choices made and being hateful of someone because of what they were born as. Besides, if you're really standing by what you just said, why are you backing up the Blowhard? He spouts nothing but predjudiced generalizations.

ALL people who choose to be police officers are assholes? You really believe that? Just because they weren't BORN police officers but rather chose to be means they chose to be assholes?
You're being nonsensical in every way.
Stop and think about it.
I don't think it's nonsensical because when I say "I don't like cops," it means I don't like those people AS cops. It doesn't necessarily mean I dislike that person...I just dislike their chosen profession. "I don't like the CIA"...it doesn't mean I hate my parents. I just don't like their profession. I don't like professions that give people too much power because humans, all of us, are inherrently too capable of abusing it, either on purpose or accidentally. Now obviously, plenty of people are going to go beyond that and will make the stupid generalization that they "hate cops" and act like it means they just completely hate that person. I agree, that is stupid, but I'm approaching this from my own standpoint. I see a huge difference between my opinions on professions and making declarations about races, especially when it boils down to something like the color of someone's skin.

How exactly does one pity "pathetic social misfits on the internet" by being a pathetic social misfit on the internet?
Uh, over 30,000 posts qualifies you, you self-righteous ass. And all I spout is generalizations? Why don't you get an XM Radio and actually listen to the show? It appears that you don't.

Here you go (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=96ITYJSI)
You really should try listening to the Ron and Fez show. Its a fantastic show.
Oh, and I think the end of that might be cut off, which is disappointing because its Ron ripping Blowhard.

The nature of my job (sales) dictates that I actually have to get out and talk to people sometimes, though. It's unfortunate, but I do miss bits and pieces of the show when I'm not driving.

Oh, boo-hoo. I love how you want to play up this tough-talking "Blowhard" schitck that can talk shit about anyone and anything, but God forbid anyone even remotely flips a critical eye towards you in an even remotely similar way. You do realize how little time it takes to actually read a messae board and make posts, right? I know you do, because before you became a sociopathic shut-in that only communicates to the outside world through nonsensical radio call-ins (awwww, see what I did there? I flipped it! I'm Just call me "RantTough!"), you posted at a pace on this board that put everyone else to shame.
And all I spout is generalizations?
Yes, you do. What do you call summarizing everyone who disagrees with you here as a "pathetic social misfit?" See how I made an equally absurd and baseless generalization about you above? If you want to put yourself out there as this non-nonsense tough talker who knows wha's right for everyone else, don't turn around and act like anyone responding in kind is picking on you or speaking out of line or being a bully or whatever other BS rationalization you use to sling such ridiculous statements and then expect to totally removed from any kind of contrary response.
Go ahead, feel free to respond with another one of your long-winded, holier-than-thou diatribes against me.
I just did, you raving hypocrite. Again, the Blowhard establishes the rules...he can be a bullying, ranting, long-winded, holier-than-thou talking head whenever he wants, but God forbid anyone else responds in kind! No, that's not allowed! That's not fair! Your actions and comments don't happen in a vacuum where only you get to play with the toys.
Racist, sexist, homophobic or whatever, let the accusations begin!
Get off the cross. You want to be the big shit-talker, people are going to respond in kind. It's that simple. You reap what you sow.
OK, I'm about half way through the audio of the phone call and I already have a headache.
So far I agree with HTG.
I'll listen to part 2 later and give my full analysis.

The worst thing i heard in that whole thing is a grown man using the term "babe"....
That being said, it is obvious that blowhard is out of touch with reality. If he thinks that people are not treated differently in certain area's then he is insane. I call 911 in the Bronx, it takes ages for them to come. I call 911 in upper Westchester, it took them less than 5 minutes to be there.
I do happen to agree that Earl can be.. lets just say.. pro more of one race than another himself. He is known to go on subjects where he has no reasoning just because it is a black thing. I will go with any race or subject if it makes sense. But Earl is my mind is just as bad as blowhard at times.
But there is really no defending blowhard there. I do not know the man personally so i refuse to lable him anything. But as it pertains to that phone call, then yes, he was inexcusably racist and out of touch.
Let me start this with the fact that I do not think Blowhard is a racist.
But I'll be the first to admit that Thursday's call bugged the living shit out of me. Blowhard seriously pissed me off...and generally I have avoided this topic. So when the audio was posted, I thought twice about it and downloaded it.
Understand that I work with language for a living...so I decided to listen and analyze the call to see if my initial response was fair, mostly because I generally like the Blowhard's calls. Here is what I thought listening:
Blowhard accidently opened the call to a race issue, by mentioning the "black-on-black crime" at the 0:45 point in the call.
"They're all choir boys" at 1:10 he makes an implication that black people are some how "bad".
At the 1:28 point, Blowhard told Earl "now you have your black governor". This comes off sounding awful.
At the 1:33 Blowhard compares Barack Obama to Sanjah from American Idol as a pure insult.
Blowhard mentioned an "anti-police unchecked" on the show at 2:30. This came off like a weird comment about the show.
At 2:45 Blowhard drew a link to Lt. Governor Patterson and Al Sharpton. By doing this he attacked Patterson's credibility.
When Franklyn was talking about black kids learning to fear the police, Blowhard went to the "behave yourself" comment, hence minimizing the experience of that community. This was at the 5:30 mark.
When Franklyn told his story, Blowhard reacted at the 6:50 point with "Come on!"...as if Franklyn's personal experience wasn't right.
At the 8:10, Blowhard minimizes Earl & Franklyn's experiences with the comment "alot of people get pulled over". This pushes the angle that the black experience is not unusual in America.
And he finished it with "Since when is Earl a comic?" at the 16:00 point...attacking Earl's credibility during the end of a spar with Ron.
This all reminded me about a conversation I had with some friends last night. Everybody knows people who aren't inherently racist, but come from a different mindset and come across poorly. I am going to assume this is the case with the Blowhard, but honestly if this call was the only thing that I had to judge the Blowhard on...I would think he has a problem with race.

Wow, you spent a lot of time on this. I'm flattered that you care so much. I'll try to explain myself, and then I'm done with this silly thread that Rich started as a goof.
1) "Black on Black crime": I can only speak about NYC, but it's my opinion that black on black crime is a major crisis in the inner city, and decent, hardworking people are help prisoner in their own homes by the predators on their streets. That's not racist, that's a fact.
2)"They'e all choirboys": I was referring to a local story that Earl freaks over, the Sean Bell case. The local media made him and his friends sound like great guys out celebrating the night before his wedding. In fact, the club where they were hanging out in was a notorious drug/crime dump, and the cops were presumed guilty before the facts came out, the verdict is coming in very soon.
3)"Now you have a black governor": Earl has been on the record supporting Obama because he's black, and it's on the record, saying "it's time we had a brother in there". That was sarcasm, and if you knew what Earl has been saying since the WNEW days, it was a slap at his simplicity, nothing more.
4) "Sanjaya": is this racist? A national sensation that doesn't seem, in my opinion, to have any substance. Racist? Uh, no.
5)"anti-police checked": you got me there, but there are many racial arsonists in this city, from Sharpton to City Council member Charles Barron, who openly hates whites. Other than that, I don't recall much on that.
6)"Franklyn and kids fearing police": it's true that it's a very different experience for people growing up in high crime areas, and yes, there are police abuses. But that's where the crime is, (look at #1), and of course there are more stops and pullovers. My "behave" comment was due to many people of all races in this city mouthing off when questioned by police. Ask any cop: if a cop pulls you over, behave! I grew up here in NYC and I've had many run-ins with the cops. Speaking from personal experience, behaving would have saved me from a lot of problems.
7)"Come on"!: I believe that when Franklyn said that because now he lives in a white neighborhood now, he rarely gets any police scrutiny. Go back to #1 again. Of course that's the case. Cops work harder in high crime areas, and are also pressured by the brass to "make more collars" in high crime areas. I'm sure it's all political at that point, and the cops can't win.
8) "Franklyn and Earl's black experience: okay, maybe I was a bit dismissive here,(you got me!), but there is a lot of stories of victimization regarding race relations in NYC. Some warrented(Eleneor Bumpers), some unwarranted(Tawana Brawley). I was raised on the streets of a working class neighborhood, and trust me, I've dealt with scumbag cops, and I also, to this day, know of some scumbag cops. I also have many friends and family members "on the job", and they're decent people who just want to do their jobs. Shooting a firearm is the last thing they want to do, trust me on that.
9)"Earl is a comic": I knew it was a bit, and when I initially called in, it was to have some fun. Ron, being radio's Vince McMahon, masterfully turned the conversation into a serious one, hence the emotions and other nonsense.
Epo, you don't know me, and maybe being from the midwest gives you a different perspective, but in the end, it's a radio show. If you believe everything you hear on R&F, maybe I can sell you a bridge. I'm sure you're a nice guy(according to that creep gvac), but truthfully, this entire argument is silly. If people have opinions of me, fine. People who know me(including many on this board) think I'm wonderful, and to be truthful, I am. So go and grab some cheese curds and a cold one, and take a deep breath.
This is my last response in this thread. I'm done, and as a RonFez.net legend, I'm still waiting for a plaque from Mikey and Jon. Thank you and goodnight. Brotherman.

I am going to assume this is the case with the Blowhard, but honestly if this call was the only thing that I had to judge the Blowhard on...I would think he has a problem with race.
I finally heard the full phone call from Thursday and I agree with most of what epo says above.
I don't think the proper term for Blowhard is "racist". Here's an example I was thinking about:
Blowhard wouldn't not hire someone because they were black, but he would go into the interview with a preconceived negative opinion of the person.
Putting Blowhard in the same category as a KKK level racist is really not fair. I don't think he is full of hatred, just ignorance and a lack of compassion. He doesn't understand what it's like to be black in America and he doesn't want to understand. He'd rather just deny their experience and blame "statistics" on the "black community", instead of seeing them as the result of poverty, low socio-economic status and potential racial profiling.
Earl is also wrong for making the blanket statement "I hate cops". The notion that every cop mistreats every black person is just as ridiculous as what Blowhard was saying.
I was surprised at how angry Ron got at Blowhard, but I feel the same frustration as he does. Blowhard seems like a really smart and cool guy, but his alignment with right-wing radio and lack of compassion is annoying. I think not being able to see the other side in an argument is an incredible weakness and I hope that Blowhard is able to see it first hand one day.
So go and grab some cheese curds and a cold one, and take a deep breath.
so you are saying that because epo is from Wisconsin, he only eats cheese curds??
Both of you are obviously suffering from cheese curd envy.
My final thoughts on the subject -
Is Blowhard a racist? No.
Is he mentally unstable? Well....

Depends. Who says to a man, "I wanna have a talk with your wife" at 1am with sarcastic and threatening overtones?
Blowhard is unique in that he is wholly capable of dishing out skewering opinion on the air. But when it comes back at him, he goes insane.

not that I would expect blowhard to make sense as Liz doesn't have a lazy eye and I'm not sure what that even means, but it was just the general tone of his language and the fact that he couldn't PM Liz, instead he wanted to go through me.

I really don't need to be looking over my shoulder to make sure that someone is creeping out or threatening my wife. You want to talk to me, fine. Going after the wife changes the equation.
Stop lying ass, I NEVER threatened your wife! I never threatened you. Get a dictionary and look up threat, you coward. Stop hiding behind her skirt, you lying sack. Asking you to meet me for a drink is a threat??? You sad, paranoid fool.
"Going after the wife"???. Give me a break. Take your meds, lunatic. You are delusional.
I'm done here. Keep the love coming, I'm glad you care so much about me.

I agree, except Rick Moranis is absolutely hilarious in Spaceballs. If you take him out of the movie it's terrible and unwatchable.
true, he is and i am no fan of his either.

Threats can be perceived or real. You came off in a very threatening manner, and you brought my wife into it. As soon as the wife enters the picture, I go into battle mode, because that's what a man does.
And instead of keeping this on the downlow, I'm putting it out there because I think only scum of the earth would bring another man's wife into the equation.
Are we friends? Answer: No.
Did you IM in a non-joking fashion because you were upset over two very, very small comments? yes.
You could have ignored it, or laugh it off. Compared to other things written about you on this board, "sweaty" and "unlistenable" would rate very very low.
And yes, you did try to bait me. "Friendly conversation" - right. How else would you explain the lazy eye comment - even though it's totally wrong, Rich knew about it, so you were trying to F with me, even though you were failing. Don't deny it.

Ladies and Gentlemen... 2009 Matty.
I went outside, took a breath, and thought about this.
Blowhard is a proud individual, and he is probably very sensitive about his personal appearance and his radio appearances. It seems that's the majority that he has in life, so I can see how he could get upset so quickly.
Last night, I was feeling sick and miserable (hence being up at 1am) and Blowhard's IMs aggravated my already upset mood.
So instead of taking the high road, another piece of unrelated bad news made me act out against Blowhard 12 hours after the incident happened.
I am very protective of my wife, and even though she's a big girl and can stand up for herself, a perceived threat against her can send me over the edge.
The matter is closed, with a final piece of advice to Blowhard - you are very polarizing and not everyone adores you. Instead of taking it personally, you should either ignore it or learn to laugh it out. Or at the very least, rationalize it.

Matty,
I have known Blowhard for a good number of years. He may say things sarcastically as we all do at times. He HAS NEVER threatened anyone (especially women). I find it irresponsible that you characterize him as speaking in a threatening manner to you or your wife. There are a good number of people on this board who have met him and find him to be a true gentlemen.

Just because you don't outright threaten women does not mean you respect them.
I have seen The Blowhard be very disrespectful to women, including myself, even when unprovoked. This is not an attack, just an observation.
I realize you are good friends with him, but my own experiences have given me a different perspective.
I guess that is what makes each of us beautifully unique and able to choose the people we wish to be friendly with.
