I noticed it first with ESD, but since then I've noticed a lot more people doing it. ESD and other say Minhattan.

As a born and bred Manhattanite, I used to say "The city" just to piss off the Brooklynites (which I loved to do until I moved there), but I never said "Minhattan". Even when speaking fast I don't think I've heard someone from there stress that as an "i". (Maybe an "e")

I'm definitely a Minhattaner, and I'm surprised how incredibly outnumbered I am in the poll... I don't know if I know anyone who actually pronounces the "man" as if they were saying the word "man" on its own.
