I'm kinda interested in the story for professional reasons, and knowing I have some close by pals makes me ask the question.

watching ny1 right now, the crane completely crushed a 5 story townhouse with a bar in the ground floor. I hope I'm wrong, but there might be more than 4 dead

UPDATE-DOB Inspector arrested (http://www.wnbc.com/news/15655280/detail.html?dl=mainclick)

NEW YORK -- New York City officials announced on Thursday that an inspector allegedly lied about inspecting the site where a crane collapsed on the East Side of Manhattan, killing seven people.


Edward J. Marquette was arrested Wednesday night and arraigned Thursday afternoon before being released on his own recognizance. If convicted, he faces up to four years in prison

On March 4, someone called 311 to say the construction site wasn't safe, officials said. Following the call, Marquette said that he had inspected the area -- but he never did, officials said.

He was charged with falsifying business records in the first degree and offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree.
