On Saturday, I dug up my garden, added bumper crop, and planted asparagus, spinach, and lettuce. I'm also starting some seeds - something I say every year I won't do again... I've got 4 different peppers - bhut jolokia, new mex conquistador, piquillo, and sweet godfathers. I'm also doing some burpee health kick roma tomatoes. Here's a pic of the operation - it looks very suspect from the outside...

Anyone else got a garden going this year?

You get to start early.
I have to wait for at least another 1.5 - 2 months.

I just dropped a walnut tree that had been robbing sunshine from the garden. Also thinking about getting chickens for pest control (and dinner).

A friend of mine couldn't grow anything cuz of a walnut tree. Something about the toxicity it has.

Yeah, we had heard of that, but I'm not sure it was a factor. We've grown stuff near it before with decent results. Also, when I cut into it, the would was white like pine, yet hard. It seems like it was some oddball kind of walnut, not the black walnut. We have a gigantic black walnut and nothing but ivy and rats grow under it.
