Just saw this on FMQB (http://www.fmqb.com/Article.asp?id=622279)...
The Racanteurs have just finished recording their second album, Consolers Of The Lonely. Now they will release it in a week from today everywhere, online and in stores. I have never heard of an album released so soon after completion and i applaud Jack White and company for being so out of the box.

the ramones recorded one of thier albums in 30 min.
back then, the mastering process probably wasnt as involved as it is today.
if you record it the right way, and dont fuck around, its amazing how quickly shit can get done.
the artwork was probably done before the album was recorded.

The last album was great... but I favor the tracks that Jack White sings (Steady as She Goes is incredible).
I hope there's more energy to all the tracks in this one.

"Together"
You and me forever
We belong together
And we'll always endeavor
Throughout any type of weather
You want everything to be just like
The stories that you read but never write
You gotta learn to live and live and learn
You gotta learn to give and wait your turn
Or you'll get burned
You wrote our names down on the sidewalk
The rain came and washed 'em off
So we should write 'em again on wet cement
So maybe people a long time from now will know what we meant
You want every morning to be just like
The stories that you read but never write
You gotta learn to live and live and learn
You gotta learn to give and wait your turn
My only concern
I'm adding something new to the mixture
So there's a different hue to your picture
A different ending to this fairytale
When the sunset into which we sail
You want everything to be just like
The stories that you read but you can't write
You gotta learn to live and live and learn
You gotta learn to give and wait your turn
Or you'll get burned

I didn't mind Steady As She Goes, but I gotta agree with Sheepy that pretty much everything else on the album would have made a better single.

I will agree that Steady As She Goes was not the best song on that album, but as far as single material goes it was probably the best choice. They have to pick something that is catchy and has mass appeal, and I don't know which song on that album would have worked better for that.

None of the singles that the White Stripes release are the best songs on the albums, but they are the catchier ones. Seven Nation Army, Icky Thump, Blue Orchid? I know this is technically a different band but I think the same rule applies that the single is the most radio-friendly track and anyone who gets the album just for the single is possibly a bit disappointed by the likes of Little Ghost or It's True that We Love One Another. But what do I know? I'm just a hayseed.

Oh, and I can't wait to get this album. I would suck Jack White's cock, if he'd let me.

The great thing about the way the Jack White and the White Stripes have done their radio-friendly singles is that there's still a lot of intrigue in them, as well as catchiness. Steady as She Goes really spoke to me because I was about to get married and I felt a lot of trepidation about changing my life and choosing a path.
Broken Boy Soldiers would have made a great single too, though.
And once people get the albums in rotation, the rest of the songs do their magic. Little Ghost, We Love One Another, Hotel Yorba, and that "there is a man, a certain man, and for the poor you can be sure that he'll do all he can," all of those are like the home run that make the album a grand slam. But a radio song has to get on first for that to happen.

Has anyone bought the CD or album version? Are the liner notes good enough to justify purchasing a hard copy even though I already have the downloaded version? The PDF file that came with the download was just a picture, similar to the album cover. If I remember right, Broken Boy Soldiers had shitty liner notes. I like having the lyrics and usually White Stripes albums have interesting shit to read and look at while listening.

Maybe if you weren't so crude about it.
A little finesse, that's all I'm saying.

*I might end up with a recording of this set, PM me if you want a copy.

Ok, here's the setlist:
Consoler of the Lonely/Hold Up
The Switch and the Spur
You Don't Understand Me
Top Yourself
Old Enough
Store Bought Bones
Keep It Clean(???not sure about the title???)
Steady, As She Goes
Rich Kid Blues
Blues Veins
Many Shades of Black
Level
Salute Your Solution
Broken Boy Soldier
Carolina Drama
I'll probably have it edited by tomorrow night. I fucked up the beginning of Top Yourself but may be able to fix it. Also, a couple times the live feed dropped out for a second so I'll try to fix those too but I know I won't be able to completly patch the recording. Anyway, PM me if you want 1,2, or all of the songs. I'll have to send them through gmail, 2-3 at a time. I'm going to record Les Claypool's set too, it starts in 15 minutes.
