you annoying sack of crap!

Fez's words, not mine, but I wholeheartedly agree.

Ok, sorry for this, but Al's ignorance of music labels and bashing of anything that isn't mainstream or top 40 has really gotten to me.

"you're lucky anyone knows who Rage Against The Machine is" - Al Dukes

I think that alone speaks for itself.

They only had four albums that were top sellers for Epic Records (the first album was Sony, but Epic affiliated).

Nothing Records. Yeah cuz no one has ever bought any NIN records after the first TVT release.

"Pressing Cd's in your basement doesn't make you a label" - Al

Actually yes it does. It's called an independant label. And if it weren't for an independant label in the late 70'searly 80's called I.R.S. no one would know who R.E.M. was. Most bands start out on an independant label and their contracts get bought out or expire and major labels pick them up. For example, he claims to be a Replacements fan (which offends me to no end) and they were on Twin/Tone. An indie label out of Minneapolis. Nirvana, originally signed to SubPop, an indie label out of Seattle. And don't even get me started on the punk bands signed to SST. Dinousaur Jr. for one who started on SST and ended up on Sire.

What a tool.

I personally liked Ned's Atomic Dustbin...now that was a good band...I also love Stabbing Westward. But I am sure that Al would hate those bands too

I must personally beat him about the head and shoulders with a sack of doorknobs for what he said about NIN.

Trent Reznor has one million times more talent in a single pubic hair than Al Douche's boy toy Jon Bon Jovi has in all of his body.

Not to do defend Al too much, some of the actual musical knowledge he didn't know is embarassing, but:
Who cares what F'in label a band is on?
And seriously, if you know, all the power to you, but it really is the most mundane of trivia as far as a musical artist goes, unless there's some sort of reason to know like the Prince & Time Warner saga. They all wind up on the shelf at Sam Goody.

You can hang Al on a lot, musical labels is not it.

Agreed, it is a pretty minor thing to know or care about, but at least admit you don't know instead of claiming you do, and then bashing what you don't know about. It would have been better if he just said "I really don't know much about labels" instead of making assenine comments.
