View Full Version : An open letter to the R&F show about a podcast

Hi. In the recent wars about podcasts and earning the opportunity to have your voice heard on 202, I would like to throw my name in as a possible choice to do a podcast for the channel. Yes I know the typical "don't you have to be 21" jokes that would ensue because of it, but I would take the chance very serious. It's a huge opportunity for someone trying to get into the communications field, whether it be radio/film/tv, to have something like this.
I am not inexperienced when it comes to radio. I have had a successful college radio show with my friend Dave on Saturday nights from 7 - 9 called Demented Entities, where we played music and talked. I learned all about on air speaking, answering calls, working a soundboard, etc. But it was also a blast to do.
What would my show be about? Anything but messageboards. I would do it with probably 2 or 3 other people and get a round-table discussion about whatever we would want to talk about. This isn't a chance to jerk ourselves off. It's a chance to broadcast and be heard by millions of people
Just throwing it out there that it would be a huge blessing and I would take it serious.

You really should have put this in the confessional. It would have been safer that way.

I like your approach..You'll never get a thing if you don't go after it..But you have to ask yourself (and others) one question..Do I have anything of value to bring to the table? To be honest I haven't noticed any special vibes comming from your direction..I hope you get what you want and I hope you prove me wrong..But be careful what you wish for, you might get it and then fall right on your face like a jackass..I don't wanna hear four frat boys chasing a greesy pig around a table for an hour, that's for sure...

Maybe you should direct your question to, oh, I don't know, The Ron & Fez Show.

GreyWolf is more deserving of a podcast. That's even if he leaves the studio after two sentences and we have dead air for an hour.

Anything but messageboards.
I vote yes. I will take flea man over the don stugots cover dj hour any day.

A Ron and Fez walkout while Flea Man is in studio.
Oh how I would like to hear that.

Sorry Flea, but I am afraid you have probably annoyed too many people for this to happen anytime soon.
Deserved or not, a lot of people hate you or find you supremely annoying on the radio (at the very least). Sadly, that will probably follow you for a while.
The smart thing to do would be to send in something under an assumed name - don't be Flea Man. There is too much stigma attached.

Well I also sent this to ronandfez@aol.com (don't know who reads that though) and I didn't post it on any other messageboard other then ronfez.net.
It's more of an "if I was even thought about being givin' a shot" rather then some sort of plea like I'm better then anyone. It just seems like they are thinking of new names and I thought, why not put my foot in the door. The only thing I would be certain about is I wouldn't talk about forums, screen names, drama, etc. This isn't a chance, like MadMatt wrote, be "Flea Man" and jerk myself off. It's an opportunity for someone studying communications to get a taste of the industry. (insert hilarious didn't get hired as an intern joke here)

I'd tune in. I LOVE hearing what the people who dont already 'do a show' come up with. Besides it gives us yappy cathys something to talk about on the boards.

You can do a podcast with 202 or without. I'd take a peek. If it was well done, it would be cool. If it was cringe worthy it will still be fun, but for a different reason..

by being "heard by millions" do you mean hundreds?

Everybody gets their 15 minutes.
But I'm sure everybody has asked for a podast at this point, and I think instead of 24 hour party people (too much for Fez for a while), they should do the podcast marathon. I would want to see who got the 4 am time slot.
But Flea, I'm pretty sure you're going to be scheduled to work whenever they'd be able to record.

And I'm pretty sure all of the listeners are going to have something scheduled when Flea is on the air.

Probably would be better than a Flea show.

as impossible as it may seem, this "show" would be worse than Fred's. Let people who know how to do a show do a show.
