Ant and I had an absolute blast in the studio today. Sorry we didn't keep up with any updates in the listening thread, but we were pretty caught up in the workings of the show... it was really fascinating to watch.
It was a little awkward when we first showed up, as we had no idea what to do when we got there. The security guard in the lobby was useless... he figured everything was closed and had no idea anyone was even up there. Come to think of it, it was kind of odd that he sent two total strangers upstairs to a suite that he thought was empty, but whatever...
Once we got in though, everyone was great... Dave, Pitz, Mooch, Earl, Lil, Stover, Hicks , and of course Ronnie. HTG and Sheepy came in right behind us, and it was nice to meet them as well. I was really surprised what a laid-back atmosphere there was, and the almost open-door policy they have for the show... it was really cool. Fans were kind of coming and going... Fred from Brooklyn popped in for about 20 minutes early on, a couple of other dudes came in to hang out and watch, Flea showed up in the last hour. It was very much a hang.
Some other things that stand out:
... Mooch absolutely loving Earl's freakout ("He's fuckin' lost it! He's fuckin' insane!")
... Stover laughing his ass off, also at Earl freaking out
... Dave's "Hunter Thompson doing Earl's grandma" voice sounded like Colin Quinn... doing Earl's grandma
... I got the impression that Hicks works his ass off, charging around the studio like a fucking bull
... after the show, Dave came out to thank us for coming, but we declined to shake his hand, as he used it to cover his cock for the last twenty minutes of the show
... most of all, how effortless Ron makes it seem to pull it all off
... the one downside was no Fezzie - he did sound great during his phoner, though!
Again, it was a fuckin' blast. At the end of the show, Ron said to us "well, you boys caught a weird one today." Weird, and completely freakin' awesome. It really was the Great Friday that Ronnie promised! Thanks to everyone on the show for letting us hang. Can't wait to do it again!
