So here's my problem.
On the occasion that I park my car in front of my house my Mailman will not delivery the mail. I have received little notes say that the mailbox is blocked.
The only problem is that the car is at least 15-20 feet away from the mailbox!!
On Friday I watched him NOT deliver my mail and on Saturday received a card saying MAILBOX BLOCKED
I used my camera phone and took a picture of the postal truck and my car all framed perfectly
I want to complain because I fell that he can easily deliver the mail and this guy is being a hard ass, there a 2 basketball hoops also on my street that are a lot closer to there owners mailboxes then my car is and they seem to get their mail although I dont know for sure
Part of me doesnt want to fuck with a guy who delivers important stuff to my house
But fuck him Im going to park in front of my house
I have photo proof, what would you do?
P.S. Its at least 24 feet from the front of my car to the mailbox I just measured it

Picking a fight with your mailman sounds like a really bad idea. You might want to try talking to him and see where would be the best place for you to park. He might be crazy about making you move your car far from the mailbox, but he is the one who ultimately decides if the mail makes it into your mailbox or not.

Rational response:
You don't have to start out as a dick, but if you feel you are in the right you CERTAINLY have the right to say something.
Also, make sure you discuss your "fears" about poor service as retaliation with the Supervisor. He can nip that in the bud really quickly.
Emotional response:
F@#$ him. He's not doing his job, so report him.
I hate lazy ass-hats like that - using bullshit as an excuse not to do work. Talk to his supervisor and get it squared away. If the mailman starts f-ing with your mail or otherwise being a dick, talk to his Supervisor again. Civil servants are a dime a dozen.
Sorry PanterA.

Why don't you paint your curbline to look like a ruler and park within the allotted distance? P.O. box might be better. Did you tip him last Christmas?

I wonder what might be happening is that the mailman cannot drive his car/truck exactly in front of the mailbox and thus instead of getting out, he is leaving those notes.
Maybe you forgot to leave a tip over the holidays for him!!!

Wait is he leaving the notes in the mailbox? This guy sounds a little crazy.

This sounds a lot like a running dialogue my wife & I have with our mailman. At least once a month the mailman complains about the spot of our garbage can on garbage day. He doesn't like that the garbage can is within 10 feet of our neighbor's mailbox, because it interferes with his ability to sit his ass in his little truck and not have to get out of it. Since it's not my mailbox I could care less, but it's really stupid. If he can get to the mailbox why can't he open the little door and put some envelopes in it? Is he in danger of breaking a sweat?

So he can get to your mailbox to leave a note, but can't get to it to drop off the mail?

maybe the guy has some disease and might be a carrier
i'd say go down to the post office and run your situation by a manager of some sort. tell them you do not want to get the man in trouble but you feel there is a problem. maybe they have some sort of explanation or will have some suggestion on getting the problem corrected

"when you control the mail, you control...information!!"
well, not anymore, actually. 99% of the mail i get is junk mail, since i do everything online and have paperless billing for just about all of my bills.
if you don't want to get supervisors involved, print out the pics you have, and put them in an envelope with a note saying "how am i blocking the mailbox?" and leave it in your mailbox addressed to him. hopefully, he'll look at the pics and realize he's wrong and will get in trouble if he keeps doing it and knows you have proof.
if it turns out to be a matter of you didn't give him a christmas bonus, then f@ck him! unless he's delivering heavy boxes to you on a regular basis, why does he deserve a bonus? his job is to deliver mail. if he's just doing his normal job, why does he deserve a bonus?
