View Full Version : What analogy would (do) you use to describe the show?

I have tried in vain over the past few years to get most of my "real life" friends into Ron and Fez. They're not an acquired taste; either you get it or you don't.
All you can do is beg them to listen semi-regularly and if it doesn't grab them it's their loss.
GVAC's post in another thread got me thinking about how often I reccomend Ron and Fez, and end up with the person saying "I don't get it"
What analogy would you use to describe the show? I was thinking Sushi ... those who love it, really love it ... most people just can't get past the fact that they're eating raw fish.
So what's yours?

I've been searching for a quick way to describe the show myself. "A recovering addict and his asexual partner talk about whatever they want for three hours. Oh, and one of their producers eats shit and shoves things up his ass from time to time" doesn't seem to work.

Don't ever bring up the "Their show is like wrestling" or 'Carney' analogy, no one ever gets it and those examples are always a turn off unless you understand the premise.

i just say they are really funny, not like howard stern funny but actually funny guys. they talk about stupid shit like we talk about all the time.
usually that follows me asking them 'what is the biggest animal you can kick to death' or 'blow job man'
i don't tell people to listen as much as i used to, because twice in the last year i have recieved phone calls from real life people asking me if i just called the ron and fez show.
that is akward.

I've come up with this analogy that it's kind of like a car ride with your buddies, sitting in a car for three hours just driving along and talking about whatever comes up.

its like "Three Men and a Baby" except funny- and with a lazy, lying black producer instead of the baby.

It's like jazz. They just make it up as the go along.
But Jazz is like New Coke. It'll be around forever.
So by the transitive property. The Ron and Fez show is like New Coke.

I'm sure the only New Coke reference for this show would be if a package for Levon Helm showed up fom a Mr. Flat Head.

I'd always heard theater of the mind for radio in general.
How about Monkey Theater of the Mind.

I like this one... except, besides being funny, he lays down some real-world wisdom and truth.
