View Full Version : Ron blasts Pitz

Ron sounded really upset with Pitz today. He really sounded like a hard ass boss, man he was pulling no punches. I gotta say I felt really bad for Pitz at first but than when I started to think about it I started to see Ron's point. Pitz sounds like a nice guy but really does he bring anything to the show? He doesn't seem very creative and is completely lacking in personality. Is it time for him to leave the show? If it's a metter of funds I'd much rather they hire Lilly full time. She's actually good on air.
I'm honestly stunned at how far Pitzy has fallen from grace. That kid was a real go getter when he was an intern. I hope he can turn it around. I like Pitzy a lot.

Ain't gonna happen. Pitzy doesn't have anybody to "kick him in the ass" and he doesn't seem like a guy that can do it himself. And that's based on his responses to Ron, like "I think I bring a lot to the show" when Ron is trying to make the point that he doesn't.
Sadly, it seems Pitzy has followed the Earl Douglas model of employee conduct - do just enough work to keep from being fired for negligence and don't f-up badly enough to warrant attention from superiors. Just ride it out and collect a check.

agreed, not only did he work hard, but he was a real nice guy in person also. Hope he turns it around.. For a Met fan, he is ok in my book..

The two guys that were called out Earl and Pitz got/kept the jobs based on a friendship thing. Rona and Fez ought to put more stock in talent/work ethic then whether they like a person. If Im not mistaken it was between Pitz and Lily for that last paying gig. I bet they regret that choice now.

I'm really getting annoyed with these threads about people who should be fired/should quit the show.
It's toughlove by Ron.

Did you hear the show or are you just jumping to conclusions?
I agree - the "hate" threads get a little old. But today Ron took shots at Pitzy and seemed legitimately pissed off. He is disappointed and frustrated with Pitzy, his poor job performance, his lack of initiative, and lack of support for Fez.
Given how things played out on the show, it isn't out of bounds to have a thread.

Ron taking it out on him on the air is his version of toughlove. He knows that threads like this will be created.
I'm not privy to what Pitz does, and maybe he is lazy, and Ron's letting him have it on the air to embarass him and kick his ass.
I hope he does get his act together because he does seem like a good guy. But it just gets me in a froth when people call for other people's jobs outside of the sports world.

Maybe it's the beginning of a transition period- Mooch and Pepper work well together, Dave is slowly getting traded, and Pitzy is getting reamed by Ron. Once the merger goes through they could trade Earl to Stern and put that whole channel out of business. Then Pepper, Lilly and Mooch can all get paid, and Mooch can get a green card.
I can dream can't I?

Who (except Tiger, of course) said Pitzy should be fired? Questions were posed about what he brings to the show and if that means he should step down, but they were brought up as points of discussion. Plus, it isn't any worse than what Ron said on air today or has said in the past.
IMO he needs more of a kick in the ass than he is going to get right now. It isn't the right environment or the right personnel. If Fez were "Fez" right now there might be a chance, but he has his own issues to deal with.

If Earl is soooooo bad why isn't he fired and replaced with the Greatest thing to ever happen to Ron and Fez ESD? please stop being a rube, Earl has a history of producing that doesn't come from sitting back doing nothing. :wallbash: Why would any bit on the show be done for just the messageboard crowd or to see a fucking thread about it? Sorry but this is the exact reason the show MIGHT get canned during the merger, because it caters to 50 people on a message board. It makes me "froth" and change the station.

from everything said on air pitzy got the gig because he was a real hard worker thru the entire time he was an unpaid intern.

That may be true and who knows maybe he is still a hard worker behind the scenes but as far as an on air personality hes got a long way to go. Look how far ESD has come in the time he's been there. He was hated when he first started. Hell I first joined these boards to voice my displeasure with Dave. But he kept at it and is now really funny on air. Pitzy hasn't advanced at all since he's been with the show. Maybe he just doesn't have anything interesting to say who knows? He may be a hard worker but is just not cut out for radio.

I feel about this the same way I feel about Earl-bashing on the show: if it's a bit, and Pitzy really is competent at his job, it's not a funny bit, and it distracts from the show. If it's not a bit, and he really does suck that badly, I'm annoyed at them for keeping him.

Yeah, but I also think it could mean a new "Golden Age" for Ron & Fez. Pepper and Mooch focusing on the show as a career instead of as a freebie part-timer and a visiting artist-in-residence? They already kick ass and they aren't getting paid for anything.

I don't remember Pitzy being the same kind of "radio go-getter" that Pepper & Mooch are. Pepper has had a show on 202 and is actively trying to create a radio career. Mooch has been doing audio & video productions as a fan for years now.
Pitzy was an intern that seemed to do a competent job. His major advantage was timing.
as we see when you get paid you start to suck ie earl
Earl has been in radio for almost 19 years and has never done much (of course that is based on discussions on-air). They ragged on him for being barely competent when O&A and R&F were on WNEW, and the only thing that brought him to XM was friendship.
I don't think either Pitzy or Earl are bad people, but they don't seem to be particularly good for the Ron & Fez show. Again, that is based on what we hear on-air.

I doubt Earl is actually as bad as everyone says. O&A have fired plenty of producers, and it's not like they are really shy about getting rid of people. I doubt they would have bothered giving him to Ron and Fez (and R&F accepting) if he were actually worthless. They would have canned him instead.
Then again, maybe he lingers on because nobody wants to stop hearing jokes about his dead grandmother.
For what it's worth, although he is normally fairly invisible/boring, I thought Pitzy was fucking hilarious as Jimmy today.

Pitz is a good kid. I like him a lot. I think he shines behind the scenes, unlike Black Earl. It's just when he falters behind the scenes he gets shit, and I have the feeling it's because he probably needs a good boss over him to guide him - and Earl isn't that boss (I know Fez is the EP but Earl is the main behind the scenes guy during the show and that rubs off on Pitz).

I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said.
Ron isn't right ALL the time
Earl isn't the dim bulb he's shown to be on air, and we don't know what his job really entails.
Most importantly, all this messageboard based drama is leeching the fun out of the show. I present to you the "Unity Sitdown Abortion" as a prime example. Catering to JUST the locals for long blocks is so fucking boring to the rest of 2 countires I could puke.

And on Pitzy, I like the guy. He was MORE than cool helping me get into the last show event with ESD fighting The Midnight Rider and he's very polite on the phones. I have heard him on air and he's good. If his job performance has been slipping that's up to Ron and Fez to decide, but I would like to see the man stay.
