Charlotte, NC (March 27, 2008) – The National Wrestling Alliance® is pleased to announce the addition of 4 time World Heavyweight Champion Sid Vicious to it’s regular roster. The announcement was made today during a conference call that was called by Vicious’ Management and NWA™ Director Ed Chuman also participating in the call were International Reporters from pro wrestling related publications and websites.

“I am happy to be associated with the NWA™. As you know I started with them some 20 years ago and I’m looking forward to our future. I have seen the NWA™ Wrestling Showcase and I am impressed with the program and the guys. The last 7 years have been extremely rough on me. I love this industry and to have that taken away from me when I was on top, well you can imagine how a hit like that feels. I’m coming in with the NWA™ to show the world that this will be the greatest comeback in pro wrestling – ever!” States Vicious.

Vicious starts his run on the NWA™ Wrestling Showcase on April 18, 2008 in Lincoln, RI at the Twin Rivers Casino and the following night April 19th at the Oceanfront Arena in Wildwood, NJ.

Additional to this news, the NWA™ and Colours TV (Dish Network Ch. 9407) has agreed to move the NWA™ Wrestling Showcase one hour ahead starting at 8:00 pm Eastern on April 2nd.

I bet his run ends April 19, 2008.

Sid hopes that by wrestling for the NWA it will prove he can work more than a "part-time" schedule.

A few months back, WWE was going to bring him back, but only on a part-time basis. However, as things were put, Sid wanted a full deal or nothing at all.

So the 18th of April, he starts his road out of nothing.

A few notes in my head about Sid:

-He never Drew huge (consistantly) for any company he worked for
-His title reigns were largely ignored by fans or he served as a transfer champion between two faces.
-He was always better as a "Heel", his best run being when him and former WWE Womans Champion Harvey Wimpleman were destroying jobbers and carrying them out on stretchers.
-He's a little broken down and long in the tooth to be carrying a full time schedule, I sure he wants full time $$ but can he really work it? And will the fans wanna see him beyond some nastalgic moment?

Finally I think we're at the point of "going with/developing new stars" right now there isn't much room in WWE or TNA for that matter for a full time Sid return. I dare you to tell me his WWE return wouldn't be: A brief run on RAW (either fueding with HHH or Cena) then a quick jump to Vince McECW for a spot in oblivion. With TNA, that arena can't hold anymore has beens if it tried.

NWA Pro - April 18, 2008 - Lincoln, RI
Written by Juan Alvarado
Friday, 18 April 2008

NWA Pro presented a "Wrestling Showcase" TV taping this past Friday, April 18 in Lincoln, Rhode Island with Sid Vicious. Indy Wrestling News reporter Juan Alvarado was there and sent in results and pictures!

To view the photo gallery click here (http://indywrestlingnews.com/component/option,com_easygallery/act,categories/cid,58/Itemid,69/)!

Josh Daniels pinned The Inferno Kid with a roll up

Former NWA World Tag Team Champion Joey Ryan pinned Fred Sampson following a superkick

Tristan Gallo defeated Minion

The Playaz Club defeated The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) when Joey Ryan interfered and superkicked one of the Jackson's behind the referee's back

Sid Vicious pinned Joe So Delicious following a powerbomb as the fans went crazy

Shortsleeve Sampson defeated The Masked Midget with a roll up

Judas Young and Rob Conway went to a no contest after interference that led to most of the locker room coming out and brawling amongst each other. Fans began to chant "We Want Sid" who was more than happy to oblige the crowd as he made his way to the ring and cleaned house until only he and Judas Young remained. After the two celebrate, Judas leaves the ring as the crowd continued to go nuts for Sid.

In other show notes:

The NWA World Tag Team Champions Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre) did not appear as advertised and no announcement was made about it at all. The crowd enjoyed the show and was into most of it, especially for Sid who they went crazy for. The only major negative about the show was there were a lack of clean finishes. The Young Bucks have some really cool moves. Overall it was a fun show, very enjoyable.

Sid Vicious has been racking up victories so far in his short tenure in the NWA. He will definitely be a featured wrestler in the east coast when our TV show goes on the air. Stay tuned for more details on Big Sid's triumphant return to the squared circle!
