Hulk Hogan is just days away from launching his own professional wrestling promotion intended to compete with World Wrestling Entertainment, reports The Sun out of the United Kingdom. Hogan told The Sun that he and Eric Bischoff are very close to signing a television deal with a major United States network. Hogan commented, “Last night me and Eric were getting ready to sign a deal with one of the TV networks here in America. We had a little bit of a problem with the licensing and merchandising, which has delayed it. But I totally expect we’re going to sign the TV portion of this very soon, because there’s no point in starting any sort of wrestling organization without the TV locked in place”.

Hogan says after the television deal is locked, they will make an official announcement. Hulk went on to tell The Sun that the new product he and Bischoff plan to launch will be a product similar to WWE but he “prays to God it’s nothing like what is on TV now”, and even refers to WWE's product as "boring".

When asked what they plan on doing for talent the Hulkster said, “There are a lot of unhappy campers in the WWE and there are also a new breed of wrestlers that Vince McMahon hasn’t explored yet, that we have. And I’m in better shape than I have been for about 10 years”.

This would not be a traditional professional wrestling promotion - the idea is to have celebrities train to be professional wrestlers and then square off in the ring.

The show is being pitched through Eric Bischoff and Jason Hervey's production company - which is responsible for Scott Baio's hit VH1 show.

Overall thoughts on the night:


First off, the production, set, look; was the best part by far. 74,000 people outside and it just looked incredible. One of my favorite sets they've ever done. THAT'S how Wrestlemania should look. Absolute huge kudos to the production team.

Belfast brawl was a good opener. I'm surprised Vince didn't get involved. Finlay and JBL are great workers. I loved the trash can throw at Hornswoggle. I'm sure this will just lead to a rematch at Backlash with another stipulation.

MITB was the best match of the night for me. I was hoping Matt Hardy would be a last second participant instead of a surprise entrance. Tons of cool spots, the Matt Hardy twist of fate off the top, very well done. Pretty brutal. Punk winning was awesome, as he's one of my favorites.

Batista/Umaga was what it was. Could have been better maybe with a stipulation. They've had better matches. But like Finlay/JBL, I'm sure it'll drag on with more matches and situations.

Kane winning the ECW title was hilarious. I can't wait to see him as champ. He deserves some kind of run with the belt.

Michaels/Flair. I'm sure we all are upset over this. Honestly, the match was good, and the spot with HBK's ribs is going to be on the highlight reel. But I'm sure that everyone's real beef wasn't with Flair losing. It's fine that he did. But it was the placement on the card. It wasn't even halfway through the show. He was overshadowed by a tag team diva match and the abortion that was the WWE title match. I know Show/Mayweather was going to be the semi-main event and one of the title shots would have been the main event, but to have it so far DOWN the card was just wrong. No final words, no goodbye, no music to leave to, nothing. I know this isn't the end of Flair, but what a lackluster build up to what could have been legendary. Instead, the match will be known for the table breaking prematurely.

Snoop Dogg thing was ehh. Again, it was for the spectacle rather then the match. I would have liked it more if IT WASN'T RIGHT AFTER FLAIR SUPPOSEDLY RETIRING FOREVER. Snoop's clothesline was hilarious.

That WWE title match though. Holy shit was it bad. It was bad because it was Wrestlemania, it was the main title of the company, and it was with 3 workers who've each had fantastic matches (yes even Cena). That was just mediocre-fest all over it. They tried to slow pace the match with rest holds and punches and kicks. I’m sorry, but you’re fighting for a championship you all crave, you all hate each other. This isn’t a psychological match. And it was NO DQ! Fucking fight for your life and destroy each other. They all love wrestling but they gave us a title match that could have headlined Backlash the next month and it’d be fine. But for Wrestlemania, this was the biggest disappointment in terms of match quality for me. Orton winning was great, but terrible boring match. Oh yeah, and Cena’s entrance was stupid. They had the band cause the second his music hit, it would have been boos.

I may be the only one, but I liked the Mayweather/Show thing. Mayweather really got into it and looked like he might lose. Show stepping on him, crushing his hand. Held my attention the whole time. Even the posse played their part great. You could tell it was highly scripted, but it was good. The ending worked for what WWE wanted. Something credible in the eyes of boxing fans, mainstream media coverage, and something they’ll be playing on the news.

Undertaker/Edge saved the show. Taker’s entrance was just fantastic. It was a great match but stupid ending. Is anyone gonna look at a highlight reel of Undertaker at WM, and say "OMG THAT WAS AMAZING WHEN HE WON WITH A TRIANGLE CHOCK!!!" He wins by tombstone. That's his thing (yeah he used the last ride at 17 but who cares). It was a very good match and a happy ending. Nicely done.

I know what you mean. But they really could have had that WWE title match before Flair and bunnymania. That was a REALLY bad match. JR said in his blog that Flair and HBK should main event (which we all knew wasn't going to happen). And wasn't that band (not RHCP but the other one) going to perform? Here's what I would have done.

Let the band perform to let everyone pee, buy food, maybe show highlights from the night, backstage interview or wacky segment, hype up the next match. Just a few minutes to catch up and rest.

Phishy, the WWE version of a Triple Threat has always been one-fall. I don't think the WWE has ever done a three-man elimination match

I watched the show last night and thought it was very good.

High points:
Money in the bank was incredible
Flair/HBK match was very good
JBL/Finley match was an awesome opener
Both championship matches were good, not great but good.
Production was really great. I was impressed with the set and when the lights went out they handled it really well.

Low Points
Big Show/Mayweather was average, but could have been better. I thought Mayweather should have taken at least one good bump.
Umaga/Batista was lame.
Bunnymania borefest was terrible.
