I fucking love Indian food and I'm sure those of you with GOOD SENSE love it too. I'm not referring to the shitty little filthy stands they have sitting on streetcorners in Manhatten or shit-hole restaurants that have the men's bathrooms painted hot pink with no doors on their stalls while that rink-a-dinky dink music yurdles on in the background (both of which I've experienced + regretted).
I'm as white as a colonizer but I still love their really spicy dishes. I can't get enough of the cuisine... or at least, so long as I eat this food once every 1-3 months. Kinda fills you up for awhile.
So fess the fuck up. What's some of your favorite dishes?

I went to an Indian Restaurant once and really enjoyed it. But I was with someone who knew her Indian food. If I went again I'd be lost without a food translator.

I can't vouch for each restaurant but some of the better dishes I've had were chicken vindaloo, murgh tikka, and lamb seekh kebab. Throw in one of their mango lassi drinks and you're set.
I'd learn how to cook the food if I had a motherfucking tandoor oven.

My chick/family/everybody I know who aren't Indian-Nepalese-Apache (wakka fucking wakka) don't like the food either. Fuck 'em. Ya only live once. Nobody wants to eat with ya, go pick some spicy indian food up for yourself at the nearest (good) restaurant and play some Dead Rising while you're eating. Is there a better way to live?

If you live in or around Tenbatz, there's a really good joint on Rt.1 called Indigo. Part of the Marriott right after you pass by Walmart if you're heading towards Trenton in North Brunswick.
I find the staff there to be extremely uncomfortable (try ordering on the phone and wonder why you're getting yelled at like you were fucking haggling a street merchant in Bangkok), which normally repels me from a place forever, but that food's so good I can't help but eats me more.
Their seekh kebab appetizer is teh shit.

I say nay, CofyCrakCocaine, nay...
As for me, anything with paneer in it is just fine.

The smell of curry turns my stomach, so I can't set foot in an indian restaurant. I'm sure their food is great, but I won't get within ordering distance.

i fucking love indian food. it is by far my favorite ethnic cuisine. when i still lived in the city, there was an indian place within walking distance of my house. for a stretch of 3 - 4 months i would get the lunch buffet at least once a week. so good. give me chicken makhani, kofta curry, naan, and any type of pekora, and im in heaven. i also really like saag paneer. i had a really tasty lamb dish once i think was called rogan josh.
i went this past saturday for my birthday lunch. it was fantastic.
He's serving Mexican ,Italian, Chinese. He's all over the place. That's why no one is going in.

Sex on a Plate?
yeah, dirty butt sex
i went out to an Indian restaurant on one occassion with an Indian co-worker. as it turns out I ordered a dish that was dry and hot and he ordered something like cucumbers in yogurt. he then tells me after I ordered " oh yeah that dish is very dry "
it wasn't bad but it could have used some type of dipping sauce

Do you mean 1st ave and 6th st in Manhattan, or are you talking about someplace in Jersey? Thats the "curry belt" in the East Villiage. 6th street is all Indian places. Gandhi on the corner of 1st and 6th is really good.

Have they started to use toilet paper in Indian restaurants?

Indian is one of my favorite cuisines, too! Probably because they have a lot of vegetarian selections that kick ass! I love Channa Masala, yellow lentils, Paneer Mattar, yum! I used to like the samosas until my unfortunate incident (see this thread: http://www.ronfez.net/forums/showthread.php?t=68212&page=2)

where I work there used to be a cleaning crew and there was a married indian couple along with the wife's mom and dad working in the crew. the son-in-law's name was praveen. he'd strike up conversations sometimes with us and one night I asked him if he goes down on his wife, he replied
" oh no, it stinks "
we got a big kick out of it. he was a good guy and eventually got into the accounting dept but after that he got laid off along with the rest of his family

Iselin NJ has about 100 Indian restaurants (and growing) within a square mile. The newest being the old Dairy Queen I grew up next to. They just painted their logo over the old DQ sign. Just a guess, but if you can't find good Indian food in Iselin, you won't find it anywhere.

ya goddamn right about that.
lil india, as we township'ers call it.
I've never tried Indian food mainly because I hate spicy stuff. I've browsed a menu a time or two and the ingredients didn't appeal to me.

I've never seen an Indian food stand in NYC. Pakistani, yes. Indian, no. You're obviously a huge fan of the food, well informed and well cultured. And classy.
