View Full Version : How much free time do you have after work?

With the commute to and from work everyday, it seems we (as a country) work waayyyy too much. Most people I know have only 2 to 3 hours a day to do all of their other duties... I don't think I could walk the dog, workout, fix dinner, check RF.net, walk the dog again and relax in that short amount of time.

I'm not even working full time yet and I already hate it.

Fortunatly, I am not out in the real world yet and am still in college. However I must say, with classes till 4:30, working out, eating dinner, doing work, and checking out RF.net, I don't have much to relax either.

Well, I am out in the real world any after my commute, I'm lucky to get three hours of free time. It's usually not time to myself since i have obligations, but at least it's not work.

one thing TLM: get a cat. that would cut out two of your chores.

Can't complain about a 3 mile commute! i get home & unwind with a nice smoking session usually acompanied with the sonic stylings of Pink Floyd. After that a little RF.net maybe another session & then whatever. its not a bad time.

I have collectively about 3 1/2 hrs. 1 1/2 between work and babysitting or night class. And 2 when i get home at 830. I generally go to bed at 1030-11ish because I get cranky when I dont sleep.

I only have a 2 mile commute, which usually takes 5 minutes. So I have way too much free time after work. I have been thinking about taking a night class.

although currently freelancing (unemployed) when i am working i work in film / tv production so my free time is non-exsistant. crew call is usually 6am and i need to be there by 4:30 - 5 to set up. days are anywhere between 14 - 16 hours on average. though theyre have been days with as little as four hours before i have to turn around and come back. but on average i get 6 to 7 hours to myself in which i occasionally find time to sleep.

I face a 40+ miles commute, each way. It used to be only 5, but I had to move out of Queens. And it works out to and hour each way. Hell, the 5 miles in queens took me an average of 30 minutes.

Furie, I also have cats... I actually enjoy walking my dog. It's not a chore. I'd rather walk her all day than work :-)

Sorry about your 40 mile commute... I'm getting pissed off just imagining me in that situation.

I have a two-mile commute...
and it takes me an hour to get
to work. Damn mass transit!!

It depends-- if I'm busy at
work I won't get home until 7
or 8, then I squeeze in a
workout. If I'm doing
freelance then that's what
fills the rest of my time. If
I have no freelance, then
RF.net takes up what time I have.

I used to have an hour and a half commute but now its 7 minutes. So, now I get home by quarter after 5 and catch the last 2 hours of O&A and all of R&F. Then I turn the radio off and watch tv.

Exciting isn't it?
