Looks like a nice place. (http://www.fourwindshospital.com/westchester/viewwes.html)

I wouldn't mind spending some time there.

If Fez goes, I'm visiting.

Somehow I think you'd spend all of your time in the Play Area (http://www.fourwindshospital.com/westchester/phototour/playarea.html)and would totally ignore Fez.

The better psychiatrists in the Bergen County area all refer to FW, in order to stay away from HUMC especially. They love the care their psych pats get there and have no complaints. So, it's not just a pretty place as well.

Good luck Fezzy.

A long long time ago when a wee Angrymissy was a rebellious teenager boozin it up and staying out for all hours of the night, her parents told her they were taking her clothes shopping. Excited, she hopped into the car, only to figure out she had been tricked as the car went straight up the driveway of FUCKING FOUR WINDS HOSPITAL.

I was there for 5 days in the teenager unit. My roommate? Had to wear long straightjacket kind of gloves because if she didn't, she would cut her wrists WITH HER FINGERNAILS. 6 cigarettes a day only! No physical contact, you had to give air "high fives". When I got upset and said I AM NOT AS CRAZY AS THESE FUCKS, LET ME OUT! I got a nice ol shot of Thorazine in the ass and thrown into the glorious "quiet room".

ALL I DID WAS GO TO PARTIES AND MAYBE SMOKE A LITTLE POT OR DROP A HIT OF ACID.

Eventually I read some poster detailing YOU HAVE RIGHTS and called (I believe) the ACLU and told them I was going to sue everyone. Suddenly I was CURED!

FOUR WINDS HOSPITAL - DO NOT WANT.

From the FAQ:

Q. What is the dress code?
A. Appropriate clothing is required at all times. Shorts shorter than mid-thigh, bare midriffs, see-through clothing, miniskirts, tank tops, spaghetti string shirts, or any items with inappropriate logos or messages are not permitted. You may be asked to change clothing deemed by staff to be inappropriate. Staff will assess the appropriateness of a patient’s appearance, including makeup, hair and cleanliness. Walking barefoot in the buildings or on hospital grounds is not allowed.

Sorry G. You gotta wear pants.

now, i dont know what has happened on the show, or with fezzie, since i have been real busy, but why does he need to go to four winds?

and i will say, from many family members, mother, grandfather, uncles, etc. going into places for detox and what not, four winds isnt that great. yes, they have good doctors, and pretty facilities, just like silver hill, but the fact is, its almost like a pretty, rich camp for wealthy addicts. frankly, my mom is in for the SIXTH time, and she is right now in a rehab in Michigan, one of the first of its kind, and doesnt care if you are rich or poor, they treat you like an addict. and that is what most of those seeking help need. i have had family go to both fourwinds and silverhill, (thank god i dont have an addictive personality because with all of my family members, about 25 trips, plus to these places!)

On-Air, Fez has never struck me as being someone who is necessarily in need of a mental hospital. I'm no authority so fuck all I say, but goddamn it, I'll say what I have to say. If it's a place that force feeds you pills to make you all sleepy all day long, they're doing more of what is truly making Fez seem crazy: pills. Those things are the same as taking narcotics all the time the way they affect you. Of course you become bizarre and weird when you take them.

All Fezzy seems to be suffering from is depression...the one thing you can't cure with pills, though you can mask and hide the symptoms, the causes of depression are always there until you get up and do something about it yourself.

I know he isn't willing to do that, whatever the hell it is, which is sad, and so he'll have to make his choices for himself. If he won't help himself the way he needs to...then I guess this is a solution.

I'm not a big fan of mental institutions, because they can just exacerbate someone's depressions later in life as some kind of regretful memory.

Fez will go there right after Ron Wood is on the show, the earl vs. dave basketball game, lie detector test, and he has sex with Earl.

Fez doesnt want to "get better." He likes being the way he is and I dont know why everyone has a problem with that.

I didn't take drugs, but I was out of my mind. My parents thought it was the school system that I was in (never mind the fact that it's one of the best public schools in Jersey) and decided to put me in a prep school.

That's great. Put a mentally unstable kid in a prep school with rich, intelligent kids.

Needless to say, it didn't end well.

I basically just needed a heaping helping of maturity.

I don't blame my parents, the fucking school suggested it because I was cutting a lot of class. I'd also just tell my parents they couldn't do shit, and I'd do whatever I pleased. They did what they thought was right, I guess. I don't think they knew how messed up the other kids there were compared to me.

I was actually in a group therapy thing outside of school at the time, and when my therapist found out, he flipped and said I shouldn't be in there. I protested and got put on that 72 hour hold thing. Once I called the "You Have Rights!" number on the poster, I got let out pretty quickly.

They then put me in an outpatient rehab that I did not need @ four winds. I got kicked out for not wanting to say the Serenity prayer because it mentioned God MANNNNNNNNN.

The school was sending so many kids there they must have been getting kickbacks! When I went for the initial medical exam I saw TWO other kids I knew in the waiting room.

Also, have to keep in mind I was in the teenaged unit, so I'm sure people checking in willingly to the adult unit would have a different experience.

Has it ever been suggested that Fez take a long sabbatical? I mean, to me, and I'm not being a dick, just with my own brush with depression, I know a week doesn't snap you right out of it.

I mean, when Don lost Freda, how long did he take off to get his head on straight? I mean, I know he's retiring, but maybe Fez just does need a long sabbatical, and walk the earth like Caine in Kung Fu.

I always found it funny that my parents sent me to prep school because they didn't want me being exposed to the drugs in the public high school. Yeah, because spoiled rich kids didn't do coke back in the 80s. It was the same rationale for me not working at the family restaurant. The place where I DID work, was full of dudes working a second job to support their habits.

I mean, when Don lost Freda, how long did he take off to get his head on straight?

As he said, not long enough. He didn't have time to properly grieve and get accustomed to a new way of life so that's why he wanted to walk away -- which, since D&M are STILL in best-of, he may have already done.

Me too. I went to a school with rich, spoiled kids who had more cars in four years than my Dad did in a lifetime. All because they kept on crashing them while drunk or high.

I was a city kid but those suburban kids were WAY worse when it came to illegal drinking or drugs.

Missy, I totally understand your experience. I was there when I was like 14. I had some ROUGH folks in my unit. ROUGH meaning troubled kids, rebelling kids, cutters... Chicks shipped up from Yonkers who were acting out. Etc...

I don't know if its just that when you are that age it is really the worst feeling on earth... as if life isn't hard enough when your 14.

But my mother went in for massive depression post her divorce. She was SO much better for having done so.

With about three weeks of inpatient, I got my mom back.

Plus, the food was good and the grounds were pretty.

I just think from what I know of the adult program... Fez will really benefit.

It's a real long way to say they didn't like the Neil Young tickets....

Think I'll go out to Alberta,
Weather's good there in the fall.
I got some friends that I can go to working for,
Still I wish you'd change your mind
If I asked you one more time,
But we've been through that a hundred times or more.

Four strong winds that blow lonely,
Seven seas that run high,
All those things that don't change, Come what may.
but our good times are all gone,
And I'm bound for moving on.
I'll look for you if I'm ever back this way.

If I get there before the snow flies,
And if things are going good,
You could meet me if I send you down the fare.
But by then it would be winter
there ain't much for you to do
And the wind sure can blows cold way out there

Four strong winds that blow lonely,
Seven seas that run high,
All those things that don't change, Come what may.

And I'm bound for moving on.

I think the important thing to remember is that Fez has tried to "cure" himself and it hasn't worked. He's tried a myriad of psychotropic drugs and that didn't work. He's tried therapy and that didn't work.

If he feels this is what he needs I say go for it. If it's not for him I'm fairly sure he could leave whenever he wanted if he goes there voluntarily.

I love the guy and just want him to feel better and have some peace in his life.
