I haven't pre-ordered tickets, but I'm definitely seeing it on the 19th. I've pretty much blocked out that entire day on my calendar. My sole mission that day is to see LOTR....maybe multiple times.
Hey, TooCute, can you believe how Ron compared LOTR to Harry Potter??? Please, march into the studio and set him straight! ;)

I have my tickets as well. Sony theaters here I come. But I am abit ticked that Tom Bombadil has been cut from the movie! grrrrrrrr
Wasn't to anxious to see the flick to start with it. I still believe it should be left to one's own imagination. But the trailors did me in.

Yeah, he said something about how he didn't want to see a "magic" movie like LOTR since he had just seen Harry Potter...
...and of course, the Tolkien geek in me just about had a heart attack. Because it's an unbelievable insult to compare the gutter trash that is Harry Potter to the genius of Tolkien! ;)
Besides, every review I've read makes it clear that there's tons more action and violence than there is anything really "magical" like Harry Potter.
It's pointless to argue the point, I guess. I'll just be there, like TooCute and millions of others, to watch some Hobbits decapitate a few Orcs.

i used to see a movie because I didn't like paying full price for films so I went to the matinee/first showings. Then I decided I liked seeing the late, late showing and it works well in the city where Matinee Showings No Longer Exist

Actually I prefer the sunday matinee times, reduced ticket price and very few people. Everyone is at church at 12 pm lmao. I also like to use the entertainment book and mail in for cheaper tickets. The drawback with that is that you can't use the cheap tickets for the first 3 days for showing for the movie.
why are blonde jokes so short???
So men can remember them.
LMAO.
HEHE I am a man, but the joke is so true.

There haven't been many movies that have sparked my interest in recent years, and even less that have made me waste 8 to 10 bucks on it...last movie I saw was "Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back", and that should be my last one for quite some time...
As a whole, screw Harry Potter and Hobbits and such...I think I'd have enjoyed Lord of the Rings much better if it had come out when I was reading the book...16 years ago!!!
That said, those who go, I wish you all nothing but pleasure from this film...it just don't do nothin' for me...
It's not funny, my ass is on fire...

first off the books have been around a lot longer than 16 years and it's kind of cocky to believe the movies should have only been made when you read them and whether or not you're a fan or not wouldn't it be better to old off until effects were top notch than to have really cheesy crap?
That being said, I think people are, unfortunately, expecting too much from the movie. Will it be good? Probably. Will it be the best movie of the year, a life changing experience? No offense to the Tolkien fans but I doubt it.

Mrbungle you might try
reading the books again. I
highly doubt that you could
fully understand the import
of what Tolkien did in his
conceptualization of middle
earth reading them at 16.
There is far more to Tolkien
than the Hobbit and the
Lord of the Rings.
it looks like now I am going
to see it alone in the AM and
then driving up to boston for
a party that night, but will
probably not see it again so
that I can stay and hang
with my friend and her kids
while her husband goes out
to se ethe movie with
everyone else :)

well, mrbungle, there were the animated movies, (which were ok, but a little wierd) and this movie 16 years ago would not have been as good. (and Liv Tyler would only be, like, 3...:-) )
