View Full Version : R&F and O&A
Am I the only one out there that loves R&F but just doesn't "get" O&A. I cant go through the day without my Ron and Fez fix but I usually dont get through an O&A segment without flipping over to another station. I dont really go for the "toilet" humor I guess.

Well z I personally was an O&A fan first (I live near hayseeds so I wasn't exposed to R&F till the golden ticket). They are odd complements but I do understand they are not for everyone and that goes both ways. Currently Im much more into Ron and Fez, but there would have been a time awhile back when I would have been on the other side of the fence.

Is this not a taboo topic? On the other hand, is not the basis of the show (Ron nad Fez( honesty and true reality in an increasingly surreal world? So yes, I feel exactly as you do. Like it at times, but there is a nagging element that seems to always pull me away. Plus I'm sober.

I came to love R&F through O&A. A friend was a fan of O&A and when I started listening to the FM side I just had to get xm. Then I discovered R&F and for the first few listens I did not get it right away, but little by little came to realize the brilliance of Mr. B . And who couldn't love Fezzie.
I still love O&A. It's a great way to wake up and sit in your car while commuting, laughing your ass off at simple humour and people around you looking in your car like you are insane.

I've listened to O&A forever and really like them, but I got into R&F only recently. Now I listen to O&A all the time, mornings, and then replays, but I don't usually catch the entire thing.
For R&F now I record the show daily because I can't catch it during regular airs, and listen to the entire thing every night, I just don't wanna miss any of it, I don't know why.

I don't quite understand the toilet humor thing. R&F are more of a "smart humor", but there have thing that are just as vile as on O&A. O&A just have the shocking perception. I think it comes down to taste.
I had my 62 y/o father ride in my truck with me one day. We listened to O&A when Opie did the shit mustache. He laughed until he cried. Then Ron and Fez came on and the first break was all about Dave sticking something up his ass, or trying to catheterize himself. My dad asked, "Is this all they do, talk about shoving things in their asses and dicks?". lol. I found it funny that he laughed at shit mustache, but not R&F. How did I end up here?
Back in the WNEW FM days I discovered O & A through Ron and Fez, which was the opposite of most of the fan base. It seems to be the same with the XMers, too.
I go through phases of listening to O & A, but I've never stopped my fanatical devotion to Ronnie and Fezzie.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I had always been a big fan of both shows, especially WNEW O&A. Now I can not stand O&A and stopped listening 6 months ago. So Ron and Fez are my only radio outlet.

strange that i found rnf via the hideout (j dubbs, el jeffe). i was listening to the hideout on wtks in orlando when they first came on there and they were talking about ron and fez. i had previously heard the monsters (russ rollins) mention ron and ron show from time to time so i decided to look rnf up and started downloading bits. i bought an xm a few days later and haven't missed a show (i record when at work to listen later) at first opie and anthony came off sophmoric in comparison to rnf. i did not get jim norton and his hiv/aids jokes at all.
now i listen to o and a through replays and i enjoy it. i like saturday night virus and love smodcast but ron and fez come first. as said above by others "need that rnf fix"

I stumbled upon R&F on the weebernet so I got XM for them, then I found O&A. I couldn't stand the constant running shit into the ground so I went back to Imus. But since the CBS deal I always check out at least the XM side. When their comedians start destroying each other it's some of the best stuff I've ever heard.

I always loved talk radio. My mother listened to it constantly when I was growing up and I just never stopped (she moved onto the Christian music station - YECH!). I had a few people whose senses of humor I appreciated talk to me about O&A. I flipped over to O&A and the rest is history. Shortly after that I got into Ron and Fez and do quite honestly prefer the buddays, but still listen to O&A every single day and while sometimes I just can NOT listen to a bit (I'm looking at YOU, Big A!) I always come back. There is, however, no better feeling than when I hear the RF show starting. I get giddy right off the bat.

I was like GVAC. I was a Ron and Fez fan before I was a O&A fan. I heard them both about the same time one afternoon but Ron and Fez just clicked in my head 1st.
But both shows are fucking awesome, I listen to them both when I have the chance.
i also came to r & f by way of o & a, but if i have to pick a show not to miss it's gonna be the buddays
i'm still crushed that i missed last sundays extra show, more r & f = more gooder

i have never listened to any talk before and first started listening to 202 with the O&A show. i enjoy all the comedians they have on the show and the stunts as well. through them i found out about r&f, and have been hooked ever since.
the thing about o&a i have a problem with is some of the humor. i know that there is no subject that isn't funny to people and i appreciate that not everyone has the same sensitivities as myself. i just can't get into the jokes about burn-victims, stroke victims, people with autism, downs syndrome, etc.
i know that r&f make fun of retards as well, but i just feel that it is in a different spirit. i also know that my problem comes from my work, that involves people with special needs.
just different 'strokes' for different folks, i guess.

I guess i have an eclectic sense of humor cuz i love both shows. I think Ron Bennington and Anthony Cumia are the two funniest people on the radio currently and the fact there both on satalite on the same channel is just too good to be true haha. Rarely does my XM dial go off 202, and thats the way it should be.

. When their comedians start destroying each other it's some of the best stuff I've ever heard.
that is probably the main reason, tho there is certainly other stuff i enjoy, why i also listen to O+A as well..I do like that they will go thru show bits and just see what develops w/their guest comedian (whether recorded segments, bringing in lily etc...0
Their interviews with guests who can go with a non-routine flow are also often very enjoyable and informative.
it's impossible; but it would be ideal if both O+A and R+F would have pre-designated segments where they get the schoolyard maroon to eat bugs etc...

Part of that is XM's fault. Changing R&F's first replay to 7:30 or 8pm is long overdue. Having to wait until midnight is complete bullshit. That's why I try and never miss a show because I can't stay up for the replay. As for O&A, I can miss the beginning, because it replays soon.
Wasn't sunday's show the one that they replayed Mon? Did anyone listen?

Early 1999 on WNEW I was an HUGE O&A fan. Eventually i began hearing promos for the station advertising this new show "Ron & Fez dot com" on late nights, accompanied with hilarious Dawson's Creek parodies. One late night I decided to check out the show and I was hooked. Throughout the years i loved both shows, then after O&A got fired I truly began to appreciate the hilarity of Ron & Fez. Since that point O&A have been on the back burner so to speak, though I do still listen to them, while Ron & Fez is the show of choice.

I was listening to WNEW during my commutes and got into O&A when they were still spinning music. I got into R&F when they started on the talk format, but they were on too late to listen tot hem regularly. Became a devoted listener when they shifted to an earlier time slot. Now I try to catch 3 hours of R&F a day and catch O&A as I can during the day.

I've been listening to O&A since the first time they came on WYSP in Philly. Besides the clips they would play on their show(when Opie or Anthony or both would be on with the buddays), I had never gotten the chance to listen to Ron & Fez.(YSP still sucks a fat dick for giving us Don & Mike insted of Ron & Fez:thumbdown:)
Then they finally came to XM.
It took me a few few weeks, but I eventually saw why O&A loved these guys and their show.
After the move back to terrestrial, I started to get sick of O&A, so I stopped listening.
After the Imus clusterfuck, I had to get their take on the whole situation, and I only wound up getting hooked all over again.:smoke:
I just realized that now that I'm unemployed, until I figure out what in the hell I'm going to do, O&A are the only reason I have to get up before noon.

I don't like being mean to people and I don't like to hear people being mean to others; that's just me. Ron and Fez may pick on you but even if Ron calls you a dumb hayseed ham and egger it comes over better like we're just Budday's joking around.
I started listening when I got XM. I gotta hooked when the phones kept going down and they would play Perrynoids phone song also at that time they were doing the old openings when they played somthing about choking a dog and Ezekiel 25:17 everyday and then Earl would pick a song. Maybe I'm a dumb hayseed ham and egger but I loved his song picks.
Ron and Fez are awsome they should be on every station and every radio all the time.

Thank goodness for torrents.
I like both shows with the edge, obviously, going to R&F.
The one thing I hate about O&A is when during a show, they'll play a clip back of something from the day before. It's the radio version of a TV sitcom flashback show. (Yes, I understand it's to provide context but talk about something new then. I can hear it again on a Worst Of)

I used to love OnA, i remember trying to get WNEW at night because it could come in, in S. Jersey and I would hear some of Ron and Fez. Besides from some Fezitorials they'd post on the Wnew website the first thing I heard Ron and Fez talk about was this horrible show on ABC about the Hamptons in probably 2002. Then when they came on XM i started to get into them on midnight replays and they're just so much better than OnA now. All OnA do is play youtube clips and goof on everything . The show they're doing for Comedy Central sounds like something that if anyone else was doing they'd tool on for hours. One thing that sorta off sets me about Ron and Fez is how much Ron praises Anthony. Ron has admitted to not really listening much, so how does he know how great Anthony is anymore. Him and the entire show is such a far cry from what it was in the afternoons. No one who really listened to all four hours of that show can say that this version of OnA is better. Ron and Fez are professionals and team players, which there friends are not. Opie and Anthony will make fun of people dying though when stuff like that happens to someone they know it's a complete different issue. This post is really long and will probably torn apart especially because of my high post count.

I was a big O&A fan and like a lot of people I found Ron and Fez through them. Things gradually changed to the point where I don't even listen to O&A anymore. If it had to put my finger on why it would be because it's an angry, negative show. That really spoke to me when I was out of college an unable to find a job in my field, forced to move back home, etc Now not so much, though I'd probably still listen if I hadn't found Ronnie and Fez.

I came in as R&F listener first and foremost but also have always loved Don and Mike. (I cried like a baby when Freda was killed) I only picked up on O&A maybe 2 yrs ago because one of my good friend's is a big O&A fan and was always bugging me to give them a chance. I find them funny as hell but sometimes I have to shut them off for a few seconds cause I'm ready to vomit all over myself.
But the absolute funniest R&F was when they shot Billy Staples with the paintball gun... omg fuckin' hysterical!

Ron and Fez first by a mile. I started with O&A first, and caught Ron and Fez the first time doing the "We don't care Ronnie, let them think what they want! "Some of us care Fez." bit. THese days I go through stages with O&A, I thought last week was hysterical with all the comics in, i laughed hard at the first time they did the british people saying sushi thing. Then I turned it on the next day and heard them doing the exact same thing, and to be honest it annoyed me. The call with Jay Mohr, Colin Quinn etc was funny as shit though.

I think this is a valid conversation because there is so much overlap of fans and cross promotion of the two shows. O&A are on 18 out of 24 hours in a day on 202.
I can see the appeal of the O&A show. I've heard some funny bits on their show but it's just not for me. I don't care for O&A's show so I don't listen. That's what O&A say to do it's nothing personal against them or their fans.
