Vacation time is rapidly approaching and I only have 3 requirements:

1) Warm weather

2) Beautiful beaches

3) Scantily clad women

Is Florida a viable option or is that too white trash? Should I look to the Caribbean or a more exotic locale?

Thanks for your input.

Where in Florida are you going?

If its Miami, then go for it. Otherwise, you might as well go to Alabama.

Plus, flying to the Caribbean has become pretty cheap. Go there.

I've been on the Gulf Coast, in and around Naples, and it was not trashy at all. In fact, it was a little too nice for my taste, BUT... there were good restaurants, some nice bars and beautiful beaches.

I can rant, but in short

85% of Florida Sucks Balls

the locals are either implants from NYC , Seniors, Immigrants or Trailer Trash

You have Disney, the Keys (Key West Key Largo), Miami (South Beach, and Southerm Florida(Ft Lauderdale, West Palm Beach) isn't so bad, if you can get past the Cubans

The best people living in Florida are from Clearwater Beach and Tampa, they are most human of that Savage State

I only go to Florida for Disney, get on a cruise, or to visit my Gwandpa

Leave th Country if you want to "get away"

A friend of mine is from Florida. Her theory is that crazy people tend to travel until they run into a barrier - either water or a border or something. Which is why Florida, Texas and California are full of crazy people.

So would that make Utah one of the most normal states in the US?

I would fly into Ft. Lauderdale, spend a day or two down here (obviously call me and hang out) then hop onto a cruise and head to the carribean.

Lived in central part of the state. Orlando = Disney and rude tourists. Atlantic Coast north of Boca = Dirty.. Gulf Coast from St Pete and points south = Nicer the further south you go. Key West = Awesome time and I dont even take it in the ass. (nor do I handy, rimjob or tea bag). Stayed at the Pier House Resort at the end of Duval St. Had a great time and I am sober. If I was still a drinkin' I think it would have been a wild wild time. Key West you do not need a car, but by all means find a Hotel that is beachfront (there are not that many). The one thing was the prices of eating out were astronomical. Did the Bahamas thing and it just seemed like I was always on guard from the vendors and hustlers. Besides, I like staying in the country these days..just much less hassle.

How about Scenic Pinellas Park Fla ? I hear famous people are from there.

I'm a proud Florida native, but sadly most of our state is either too liberal, too influenced by the NorthEast occupation, a little more country than rock-n-roll or simply too black or too white-trashy. Its entirely swamp and concrete and I love it for all the craziness. It truly is an odd place and particularly the greater Miami area. Its like nowhere else in the country. What it lacks in confomity it more than makes up for in sleesey, Latin-inspired distugustingness as well as an overcrowding problem. Now the Tampa Bay, area I truly love. It has everything I need (except for a music scene). I've posted it before, but Tampa Bay is home to my absolute favorite place I have ever been to. I've worked hard to save money for travel and have been all over the world, but Ft. Desoto is my absolute favorite place in the world - and I mean that sincerely. It has been voted America's top beach most recently in 2005 and 2008. There is a reason; it is a State Park which means no houses and no hotels. It has the best fishing in Florida and again North Beach makes Fort Desoto the absolute best place I spend my time. I go almost every weekend. Tampa (the city and not the bay) still has a decade or so before it turns into every other city in Florida with the notable exception of Jacksonville. I'm proud to call Jacksonville my birthplace. It smells like a paper-mill and was routinely in the top 5 for Murders. Unlike most Florida cities that progressed significantly in the late 70s-80, Jacksonville has retained its blundering, rusty and drunken image and is nothing more than a large town full of rednecks, derelicts, black street thugs ('West-side, Best-side') and Naval personnel.
So YES, its trashy but what I personally love is that the place vistors should 'get-away' to is unaccessible for hotels.

SO Enjoy DisneyWorld, FUCKERS!!!!!
http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:VNKjpNABemhcHM:http://z.about.com/d/travelwithkids/1/0/w/D/fort_desoto_beach.jpg

Seriously though, if you get a chance, visit Ft. Desoto.
Just don't stay too long.

Borm in Miami here. I think the city is a teeeensy bit different then 1963.

Anyway as everyone else is saying, there are several Florida's, it's one state but there are regions that have little or nothing to do with each other

Your I-95 cities, these cities are most familiar to us coz its where we all end up, many dont stray far from here, so its familiar. Gulf coast is diff from atlantic, panhandle's diff from the res, and you just don;t even want to know about the interior part.

It really is a brutal unkind state, the weathers wonderful if you like constant oppresive heat and daily rain and no seasons.

Something like 1,000 families move to the state daily. Insane.

=

Wordy Wordyton with a wordy sidebar: When NASA had the space program going and they decided to build and launch the Apollo rockets from Florida as before, every sane person said, 'Hey! Great Idea! You want to build the heaviest buildings and flying machines ever known, so you picked a site where there's no solid land, and the weather is as unpredicatble as it is nasty. Great choice! You might as well put the control center a thousand miles away in another oppressive shithole, called Houston.'

It's a nice place to visit, as long as it's a beach area. I've lived there a couple of times for 4 months and a year, and HATED it. The summer is unbearable, it's too fucking flat, it's rednecks are worse than the rednecks where I live, old people can't drive for shit, and people are too conservative. I lived in Ft. Lauderdale, and Pensacola. I can't even imagine how awful it must be to live in a part of the state with no ocean or gulf.

It's not like I necessarily made a better tradeoff. Sure, I get the awesome Chicago winter, but it's cruelly hot and miserable here from the middle of July into the first few weeks of September.

Growing up and living year-round in hellishly hot places like Panama or Thailand, the heat didn't bother me because there were no seasons and my body just got used to it, so there's a good chance the same thing would happen if I lived in Florida all year.

Dry heat doesn't really bother me, i can adjust and when i say adjust i mean lay out in the sun and ignore everything around me.

Humidity though is probably the worst thing in life. Summers in Jersey aren't terrible but i also live by the shore so i get the advantage of breezes. When it's humid i want to kill myself.

Oh my god. I can't second this suggestion enough.

You want hot women?

We were at Mullet Bay and a group of eight drop dead gorgeous Brazilian girls started playing soccer on the beach. In g-strings. Topless. I don't think any of them were older than 22. I'll never forget this for the rest of my life.

And there were girls who looked like them at every single beach on the island. Just none of them playing soccer (although there was one throwing a Frisbee).

Bring something to read and buy bug spray. Sanibel's nice but very quiet without alot to do. Other than sitting on the beach, the best thing to do is rent bikes and go fishing. It's known for its shells, but be careful in the water since there are tons of stingrays. Shuffle your feet in the sand as you're walking.

HHH had it best. Spend a few days in Lauderdale / Miami and then cruise to the Caribbean. If you want scantily clad women, your best bet is South Beach in Miami.

If you're not into cruises and don't want to pay to go to the Caribbean, fly into Miami or Lauderdale and stay for a few nights. Drive down to Largo or Islamorada in the keys (less than two hours) and stay at Holiday Isle for a two days. Lots of booze and great fishing, diving, or snorkeling.

Then drive down to Key West for a day or two. Somebody else had it right - stay at one of the beach hotels. They're expensive (probably not by Manhattan standards) but worth it. Most of the restaurants and bars are within walking distance. There are alot of day cruises or fishing/dive charters out of Key West or you can rent jet skis.

I will tell you, that the beaches in the keys aren't the greatest in the world, but the booze, fishing, and diving makes up for it.

If you decide on Florida, PM me if you need more info because I'll forget to check this thread.
