Anybody know where I can find audio of the now-infamous Jesse Ventura interview? I know it's on Foundry, but I'm at flight training in Colorado and the military filters don't allow naughty sites in our rooms (even if it's on our own time).

Wow, lot of things to say here. The strange thing is that it is such a hard topic to discuss. I almost come to tears when I think about that day and I am not ashamed to say have cried many times watching footage or just riding the Q train in the morning. That day left a hole in me that may never be filled again. I watch burning papers fall from a black sky into my garden.
First thing that was a problem is the cuts in the video. A debate like this shouldn't be cut at all. I found it a bit jarring as I didn't hear the original broadcast. This is a wonderful country. You can see that buy the amount of people who will risk their lives to get here. My family included. The problem with anything great that is ran by humans is that we are flawed. If someone killed my family I don't want someone caught...I want the the person who killed them caught.
The idea that we aren't trying EVERY possible means of finding out the truth, as detailed as possible is insane to me. If the US did it or Brown people from any country or both, I want to eventually know the truth. There have been many points in history that extreme acts that resulted in death, were used for political gains. I don't think our government has forgotten that. They should be doing more to quell the people who do not believe their innocence.
People who have answered 9-11 in their minds have that right to do so but allow the other more curious or distrusting people to find that peace also. We have all forgotten how bad that day was or we'd all remember that people all heal differently and at different paces. Because it is done in one's mind doesn't mean it is done for all.
If Jessie wants to find a smoking gun I say search. If he finds one then more power to him if not then so be it. But I never want to be the one to tell a New yorker or family member or any American who wants more answers that the case is closed.
It is a shame that some people are exploiting this tragedy and not letting people heal to promote
their agenda(s), publicity for certain beliefs, being famous!, further their politics, selling merchandise, patronizing people with sever authority issues, and not accepting their extreme paranoia as irrational, etc.

I find it extremely offensive to suggest that people who have looked at the "evidence" of a conspiracy and found nothing but nonsense and misinterpretations/misrepresentations of physics have "forgotten how bad that day was." 9/11 has been investigated and analyzed as closely as just about any other event in American history. What else do you want?

Not only is your opinion on this matter but you are also a coward. At least these nutso conspiracy theorists actually are not afraid to state their opinion. At first I thought you were just being respectful to Ron and Fez not wanting to elaborate on the subject when you were there but clearly I was wrong. What you wrote is insane.
What if someone were to say we need to investage if slavery was as great (numberwise) as some people say just because they say "Where all these slaveships111!!!??"
Or how about Iran's theory on the haulcast, should we believe that or see if there is a smoking gun there?
There is NO reason to think the way you do about this matter...except you want it to be true.
I noticed the "brown people comment." Could it be that you have a problem with the idea that "brown people" kilied thousands of people?

Thanks but I'm no expert at all; Dr. Steve knows his physics better then me...
But I've studied the shit outta this thing. Some observations:
-Ventura was doing the classic 'What about this inconsistency?' 'What about that?'
-Creationists use this, its classic: 'Well you have these two fossils, where's the intermediary between the two?' So we find it eventually, 'Well now where the intermediary for each of those?' so now they have TWO gaps to fill in; The God of The Gaps.
-Anthony is employing Occam's Razor to good effect, but many theorists just dont address it.
Occam's Razor [my incorrect definition]: Given multiple accounts for something happening, the one thats simplest, the one that requires the fewest logical leaps, is usually the right one.
Example: You go to sleep. You wake up. You see it's snowed last night.
Theory One: It snowed last night.
Theory Two: A team of hundreds of people with snow making equipment fastidiously worked through the night to make and groom the snow to look exactly like the neighborhood had natural snow and then utterly disappeared, and no one will admit to it. Ever.
I sometimes get a laugh from the second theory. But thats exactly what the conspiracy theorists have. Actually, what they demand is about 100 times more elaborate and involved.
Stop the stupid What About____? Questions and ask the theorists:
Fine: Our data is dead wrong. Tell us your alternate theory of what happened, and the evidence for it. Not evidence Against our version, we're taking that off the table, Dead as Dillinger. Give us the evidence For your theory. You tell me what happened that day, the people and gear involved. Whats you timeline?
Again, we use this for Creation/Evolution.
[to the Creationist: Fine. Evolution is wrong. Lets have your theory for how life arose, its nature, and the evidence. Not evidence Against evolution, we're assuming thats dead wrong, as you wish. Done. Now, please, your alternate theory and the evidence?]
Seems Ventura and the others often dont have an answer for that.
We MUST keep an open mind in science. We must also be Skeptical. Of Everything. All the letters and titles after a person's name is no guarantee against them being dead wrong. We believe what we believe. But gravity remains.

I don't see the point of 9/11 conspiracy either. What, are you trying to prove the Bush Administration is evil? Well, there's enough stuff that's absolutely true to do that. Take this:
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/extra/features/us/jan-june08/torture_4-09.html
We have a lawyer for the administration saying in no uncertain terms that the President can torture whoever the fuck he wants however the fuck he wants to to fight "terrorism." That's there. That's real. You don't need fanciful tales of explosives and remote-controlled aircraft when you have this.

"Not too many. I was busy writing one."
I've seen Loose Change. It's obviously taking doctored pictures and ignoring evidence. A plane hit the Pentagon. 2 planes hit towers 1 and 2. One of the towers was knocked into tower 7, which was damaged enough to fall later. That is all basic physics. From the way they hit and the way they fell and the evidence found at the site, there are no shaped charges, etc.
Do we know who was behind the attacks? We're told Iraq. If the conspiracy theorists wanted to really get people behind them, they should focus on who and what was really behind the attacks.
I'd also like to point out that most of the conspiracy theorists aren't from new york. They don't know the fire fighters who died in towers collapsing. They aren't the ones who lived under a black snow for over a month later. They just want attention and/or something to believe in.
KnoxHarrington

The 9/11 conspiracies always seem to boil down to two points, both of which are easily debunkable. First, the notion that the airplane fuel was not hot enough to melt steel (which both Ventura and fat moron Rosie O'Donnell said). Well, for one thing, you don't really have to melt the steel, just weaken it enough to make it unable to support the weight of the floors above the point of impact. Add in damage from the impact itself, and that doesn't take that much. I'd also give you the case of a recent accident in San Francisco where the fire caused by the crash of a fuel truck melted steel support beams for a tunnel and collapsed it.
Then you get the second one, the big one you hear all the time: the collapse is too perfect, and looks like controlled demolition. Ventura did this one too, as did, of all people, Willie Nelson. Again, simple physics: the weakening of the support pillars by the fact a huge-ass plane crashed into the fucking building would cause the floors above the impact to collapse down, and at that point the force of the downward motion is stronger than any lateral forces that would make the building fall in another direction. But, hey, it's more fun to argue with your buddies about a complex, baroque conspiracy than do simple physics.

This is the best point of all. The conspiracy people want you to believe in this incredibly elaborate scheme perpetrated by thousands of people. The Police and Firefighters would have to be in on it, at least a good deal of them. You're telling me that those in the know let their brothers march into those buildings to their deaths?!?! Gimmee a break! And not one of those men or women that knew of this plot has ever said anything to anyone...
Jimmy's other point about planting massive explosives in the basements is also dead-on! Why would the government go through this ridiculously complex plan, in which so many things could have gone wrong, when they could have planted a shit load of explosives beneath each tower. It's much easier to pull off. It would have involved only a handful of people, and there was already precedent for such action so the public would have bought it easily.
These conspiracy nuts are so stupid it hurts my feelings.
Jimmy's line about writing a book instead of reading one was a classic. Ventura got schooled and came off looking like a big baby, and the loonies can spin it any way they want.

What I don't get is that if the government went to such an incredible length to pull off 9/11, why didn't they plant some WMD's in Iraq so they wouldn't lose face?

Depends on type of explosives. I'm not an expert, but I have read about explosives. For instance, TNT would explode from flames but C4 wouldn't because it requires a spark to trigger it.

I used to kinda respect Jesse. I viewed him as an intelligent wrestler turned politician that broke the sterotype and catapulted himself into the governor's mansion. Kind of a success story in my mind.
This interview made me lose most to all of that respect. He was a complete bully and just fell back on "I was a Navy Seal" so many times I wanted to puke. He mentioned it so many times it was shameful to his service. He has no proof, he has nothing more than questions and observations that have been explained. He and other "Truthers" just refuse to accept these answers.
I hate him more and more with each replay. I hope I never hear it again.

The most advanced nation in the world? That was able to ID and round up countless terrorists hours after the attacks....we just didnt have an inkling of a clue that this might happen? I mean, it would legitimize a response which included the occupation of another country....in fact, its the ONLY thing that would legitimize occupation.
So really....we didnt just turn a blind eye, so that we would be viewed as victims drawn into war?? We REALLY HAD NO FKN IDEA?????

Have you read anything about how there was ZERO communication between the CIA, the FBI, and the NSA? No one knew what the other branches knew. There was no "top" really for them all to report to and share information. Everything in the CIA got filtered until it reached the top of the CIA, and the same with the NSA and the FBI. So whoever was taking the info from all three branches for the President (if that person actually existed) was just getting heavily filtered info that probably meant nothing at that point.
Plus, there's supposed terrorist schemes all the time. Most never pan out. If they knew there was going to be some sort of hijacking, what were they going to do, on a hunch? Just shutdown all air flight for a week?

The plot was actually very cheap and quite easy to pull off; it's just a matter of finding enough nutjobs. It took advantage of appalling lapses in our system, especially with regards to immigration and the ways that the various intelligence organizations do (or don't) communicate with each other. Like the FBI field agent who kept asking her bosses "Think we should look into why all these guys are coming here for flight training and have no interest in learning how to land?"
Conspiracy theorists seem, to me, to be very uninformed about just how bad the government is at a lot of things. Al-Qaida was basically off the radar screen during 9/11. We didn't give a fuck about Afghanistan. It was a situation where, yes, dumbasses like these could pull this off.

Richard Clarke was on Bill Mahr this weekend and they were talking about Condi being vice president. He said (paraphrasing of course) he would bring up, before 9/11, Al Qaeda and Bin Laden to her often and she will be like to Bin Laden "Uh yea I know he is" and admitted she had no idea who were Al Qaeda.
We in this country, appear to be 0-3 in stopping Al Qaeda attacks on us. Considering that and all the idiotic things the Bush administration has done, is it that absurd to think that they and the Clinton administration fucked up knowing about 9/11 too?

I know that this won't convince any "truthers" because, GASP, it's a GOVERNMENT report, but the report of the 9/11 Commission is a great read. It's actually well written, and has a really cool structure: it jumps back and forth from the government fucking up in every possible way to the 9/11 plotters getting closer and closer to their ultimate goal. I really recommend it.
But, yeah, it's by the government, so it can't be true. Blah blah blah.

During the transition, Clinton's national security team tried to tell Bush's that al-Qaida was dangerous and needed to be their top priority. They blew them off.
And when Clinton launched a full out assault on an area that intelligence told him Osama bin-Laden was staying at, Republicans blasted him, doing "Wag The Dog" jokes and accusing him of trying to distract coverage from his impending impeachment on charges of getting a hummer from a fat chick.

I mean, if I'm an evil member of the shadow government who wants to start a war with the Middle East, I just put a nuke on a boat and float it into New York Harbor. Simpler, easier, far more spectacular and horrifying.

The point is that they didnt do it.....they just turned a blind eye to what was gonna happen at the hands of others.
Listen, its too late tonite, and its been close over 7 years since it happened...its been talked about enough, and people are gonna believe what they choose to believe. I just find it hard to believe that a government that was capable of putting a man on the moon close to 40 years ago, that can track down convicted fugitives on the other side of the planet, that have the technology to intercept all forms of communications, who had memos from federal agents months before the attacks specifically warning of airplane attacks by bin Laden, had NO idea what was coming, and moreover, could do NOTHING to stop it.
Not a fan of conspiracy theories, but i am a believer in common sense.

Moron, our government put a man on the moon...it was NASA, which is the government's space agency...obviously, it wasnt the present administration, and that wasnt my point. My point was that we were capable of huge technological feats even 40 years ago, yet we didnt have the ability to prevent attacks which we no doubt knew were gonna occur 7 years ago.
You miss my point, and simply harp on, well, i have no idea.

I got a question, if you are so sure of the government allowing 9/11 to happen, why do you go on with your life. Why do you play in a silly band when you know of the biggest conspiracy in human history? How can you sleep at night knowing this fact? I know if I knew that I would be going insane. What about John P. O'Neil? Suicidal also?
What about Theodore Olsen, he represented Bush in the Bush v. Gore case in 2000 and was appointed in June of 2001 as United State Solicitor General? Was his wife suicidal?

What else do you want?

Fk it i can't re-live this crap over and over. I’m alive some of my friends are not. I’m angry at alot of people that anger shifts its focus from day to day or week to week, but it doesn't rule my life any more. At the time a glass parking lot would have been perfectly acceptable to me any more my anger has subsided and i don't wish for more people to die. I’m angry that the people i voted for allowed this to happen. This really brings the burden of responsibility on us all. The people we voted for didn't keep us safe from the crazy zealots that wish us harm.
Spike Lee, "Wake UP!!!!!!!!!"

Don't fret precious I'm here, step away from the window
Go back to sleep

I won't let the boogeyman come

Pay no mind to the rabble
Pay no mind to the rabble
Head down, go to sleep
To the rhythm of the war drums
Pay no mind what other voices say
They don't care about you, like I do, like I do
Safe from pain and truth and choice and other poison devils,
See, they don't give a fuck about you, like I do.
Just stay with me, safe and ignorant,
Go back to sleep

Pay no mind to the rabble
Head down, go to sleep to the rhythm of the war drums
I'll be the one to protect you from
Your enemies and all your demons
I'll be the one to protect you from
A will to survive and a voice of reason
I'll be the one to protect you from
Your enemies and your choices son
They're one in the same
I must isolate you
Isolate and save you from yourself
Swayin to the rhythm of the new world order and
Count the bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drums
The boogeymen are coming

Keep your head down, go to sleep, to the rhythm of a war drums

The correct term is "Blithering" idiot. While blathering is indeed a word, your use of it isn't really in line with the most popular way to execute that phrase.
And the only jackoff in this thread is you. All you have done is belittle and insult posters. Then instead of having anything of any substance to say, you're only response is basically "Well if you're too stupid to make sense of what I said than you're dumb."

That was a great interview. Props to Jimmy for not being intimidated by Ventura. You would think that someone who was a SEAL like Jesse would have a little more control of himself during a heated argument. Ok I only skimmed some of the posts that I disagree with because even half seeing some of these arguments makes me A) want to puke in my suit B) lose all hope in this country ever having a reputation for true intellectuals again C) realize that way too many little children watch far too many big boy moving picture books and then applies countless accumulated hours of fiction-swimming to their real life.
To the argument that "hey man, look who profited" did it ever occur to you fucking CHILDREN that Haliburton/Bush etc. merely EXPLOITED something horrible like 9-11 for their own agenda? Why did they have to go and actually CREATE this whole charade, which clearly couldn't have been done by Bush considering how long this set-up would take and how relatively early he was in office at the time of the attacks but anyway...
Why don't you go blame the actual hurricane Katrina on the government as well? They're obviously omnipotent and should generate global weather patterns with the weather device they stole from COBRA! They were able to fool the greatest criminal analysts the world over for nearly a decade, but NO! ZOUNDS!~ EviL! No one disagrees (or at least almost no one) that the current administration is shit, and morally they are shit for exploiting a fucking TRAGEDY like 9-11 to further their own short-sighted neo-conservative (or whatever the fuck) agendas, which even today is debatable since no one is fucking CLAIRVOYANT besides Ventura+friends.
As to the people who say the government LET it happen... welll... I doubt that. Sincerely. It nearly shattered the economy, and that's just no good for boys like Bush who had alot of vested interests sitting in New York City at the time. The look on Bush's face (which was on tape at the time) is not one of an evil malevolent genius. It's the look of a man-boy who completely froze and had no idea what he should do... and was probably thinking about how maybe he too was in danger at that Florida school...
The Dick Cheney argument is jerked off to death by people who don't know jack and dick about the man himself. Go look up his speech made in the mid-90's (1995 i think) in which he explained in painfully prophetic detail, why deposing Saddam Hussein would be a terrible move for the United States to make; I doubt he would have said all them things if he was wanting for us to go to Iraq so bad to eat some oil that he WANTED to have some of the nation's most important buildings blown up and thousands of our citizens murdered so he can go from $150 billion to $160 billion...
I like Franklyn on the show, and I like Franklyn on this board, I think he's probably the only guy here who has been respectful with his opinion. To the others (I did not catch any of your names, sorry) who ain't so respectful... people feel very strongly about this. I am personally heavily offended by some of these arguments on a very bitter personal level that I won't detail here 'cuz it's nobody's fucking business so don't ask. So forgive me if I step on your toes but hey. It's 2:44am, and I consider this talk not only insane, but harmful to people who were directly affected by these events.
So yeah, sorry if I'm being an ass but, consider this: just as I don't like the idea of Texas deciding how the war on Turr ought to be fought (considering Texas' proximity to the attacks I wonder how much experience that fine state has with Islamic terrorists) I equally dislike the idea that some out of state mother fuckers who weren't anywhere close to the attacks think that we all are living with the wool over our eyes.
We all hate the Administration (again, most of us). Know why I do personally? Because they took advantage of 9-11. That to me is disgusting, unacceptable, immoral, and utterly self-centered to the point where I'm amazed at how these people sleep at night. I don't need some Mel Gibson-inspired bullshit flying out Jesse's ass to make me hate the Administration.
For those people who were there, and who believe in this theory, whatever... we disagree and that's your right. If that's how ya cope, that's how ya cope, I don't judge you... I judge the guys who tell people that EVERYONE is being sheep for this administration, and that's simply not true. This administration was incapable of making this move and keeping it wraps. It couldn't keep the identity of a CIA officer secret, and the justifications for its operations in Iraq may well have been the biggest bad bullshit stories ever told by any President Ever. First- I LOVE your name.....very cool.
I appreciate your time and insight on this discussion. Seriously. But to clarify my position, i never meant to infer that good ol' W was the mastermind of it.....shit, i highly doubt he could master anything. (now, dont get me wrong, Bushy seems like a very cool guy to party with, but to make important life changing decisions.....?)
I was there on 9/11...i used to take the path train into the WTC EVERYDAY...i was on the platform when the shit started....i watched the buildings fall, not on tv, but with my own tear filled eyes.....Two weeks later i sat in a law school classroom 7 blocks away, hearing the continuous sirens, and smelling the fumes of burning fuel, steel and corpses, wondering when the next bout was gonna occur. I, like many people, had friends who perished on that day.
So, yeah, i get a bit emotional when discussing this. I get a bit emotional thinking that our great country has had its name dragged in the mud. I get a bit emotional when i see the Sec of State out right LIE about WMD's in Iraq; i get a bit emotional when Pres Bush says on May 23, 2003
"We found the weapons of mass destruction. We found biological laboratories. You remember when Colin Powell stood up in front of the world, and he said, Iraq has got laboratories, mobile labs to build biological weapons. They're illegal. They're against the United Nations resolutions, and we've so far discovered two. And we'll find more weapons as time goes on. But for those who say we haven't found the banned manufacturing devices or banned weapons, they're wrong, we found them."
A bold fkn lie, resulting in hundreds of thousands of deaths.
resulting in a loss of our own civil liberties
resulting in ridiculous profits for everyone but the common citizen.
So, yeah, i get a bit emotional.

Look at how crazy ventura gets. He starts shaking and then turns into alittle kid.
What if someone were to say we need to investigate if slavery was as great (number wise) as some people say just because they say "Where all these slaveships111!!!??"
Or how about Iran's theory on the haul cast, should we believe that or see if there is a smoking gun there?
There is NO reason to think the way you do about this matter...except you want it to be true.
I noticed the "brown people comment." Could it be that you have a problem with the idea that "brown people" killed thousands of people?
Wow Sorry I missed this one.
My opinions are kept as that not out of cowardice but out of respect for people like you. If a discussion on 911 comes up I will discuss what I feel because I am not afraid of my opinions or those of other. I think I don't understand your reference to cowardice but I am ok with that.
In terms of slaves all my knowledge comes from history books. I have no idea is that is true. If someone found out and then printed that slavery was grossly over estimated, then presents information that supports it I would entertain the idea. As a matter of fact I'd rather my children grow up not knowing that people sharing their skin color were slaves. So if you got the info start publishing.
The Holocaust is gonna be a little harder because I have seen the scale of human suffering on films.
In terms of there being NO reason to think the way I do. I don't think I have ever consulted you on the way I think before and I don't know if that should start now. The reasons we even think the way we do are mystery. Do you think that in terms of 911, there are not others who question? It seems that with all the irrational thoughts I do have, this may not be one of them.
Now I have a question. What benefit would I gain from 911 being more than we are told? Why would I want it to be true?
Human beings of all shades of color have killed and hurt many all through history. Again why would I not want to know if they were brown, pink or green? The problem is that human beings killed people to me. Others you must admit, have more of a bias of people of darker shades. My term "brown people" was used to illustrate that.
