I saw the title of this thread and thought it had to do with football related injuries.

It makes me feel old that I don't know 75% of the bands listed, maybe even 85%.
Holy shit! That's some lineup! How many days is the festival?

I propose a RFnet road trip!
We'll rent an RV and drive across the heartland, like modern day hippies on our way to a modern day Woodstock.

We go every year. Since we started having kids, ACL Fest is pretty much the only live music we get a chance to see.

Yeah, I'm surprised they've never played there before. No Spoon this year though, I think they've played almost every year. Also, no Old 97's. My wife is heartbroken. She has a thing for Rhett Miller.

The schedule (http://www.aclfestival.com/schedule/day1.htm) came out today.
As always, there are some conflicts where two bands I'd really like to see are playing at the same time. This year doesn't seem as bad as some previous years though.
Friday-
Hot Chip @ 5:30 vs. Jenny Lewis @ 5:45
Saturday-
The Black Keys vs. Iron & Wine @ 7:30
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss @ 8:15 vs. Beck @ 8:30
Sunday-
Neko Case vs. Silversun Pickups @ 4:30
The Raconteurs vs. Gnarls Barkley @ 6:30
Band of Horses @ 7:30 vs. Tegan and Sara @ 7:45
The ones in bold are who I'm leaning toward

The dead weather! AWESOME! The Raconteurs were the highlight for me last ACL. I was right up front and Jack White looked like he was going to die in the middle of the show. Also psyched for School of Seven Bells, Thievery Corporation, Flogging Molly, and Coheed and Cambria. But I'm sure I'll get turned on to something new. I got exposed to The Octopus Project last year. Actually my avatar is me at last ACL on the fake beach.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs are taking the Beastie Boys' spot. I've never seen them, should be fun.
Having seen both (and recently, as in last month), Kings of Leon is way better live.
That said, there's two potentially caveats.
1) KOL, if they do a similar setlist to what they did at Lollapalooza, will do a very safe, hit-driven setlist.
2) KOL will be f-ing packed in.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs are really gimmicky on the stage, the performance is meh, but gets interesting is she's kind of fucked up or in a strange mood that night. She was taking shots at Tool during her Lolla set.

I've seen Kings of Leon a couple of times before, so I'll probably check out Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
I saw the Yeah Yeah Yeahs about a month ago and I thought they were great, they had a lot of energy and their new songs really popped live. I saw a very brief portion of the Kings of Leon live last year and I felt like I was watching a band play studio versions live. Which was fine but nothing special. Then again I saw 2 songs.

Just saw Poi Dog Pondering. First time seeing them since 1991. They were really good.
Waiting for Daniel Johnston to come on now.
Gonna see Them Crooked Vultures
and Yeah Yeah Yeahs later.
