As I pulled into the parking lot of a store earlier this suv backed right out into the side of my truck. Damage isn't too bad and the guy did have insurance at least. The thing thats sucks is that this was on private property so no report can be filled by the police. Anyone else have anything similar happen to them/suggestions?

No I knew that rule before hand. The other guy wanted the police to be there which I was fine with...once again it meant he had insurance. I only wish Sting was there to comfort me with a little bit of lute playing.

i don't know the rule which you are talking about. traffic infractions are traffic infractions no matter where they happen. if some one hits you in a parking lot which is "private property" you can still get a police report. what type of "private property" were you on?

Well at least in Ohio the parking lot of a business is considered private property and can not be filed against the state. Had it been on the road next to the parking lot different story. Like I said the cop came and took both of our info so we would know it was legit and then gave us back all the things he wrote down.

Jauble, really? Wow, no matter where the accident is in NJ a police report would have to be taken. (if they were called that is)
If a car smashes into another car in a driveway a police report would be taken, private property or not. That rule you have is weird.
