Hey all-- I'm off to Chicago first thing tomorrow morning for a week to grow fat on cupcakes.

If any of you are in the Chicago area, and would be interested to come visit and have a Ron Bennington cupcake, I'd love to meet you!

I'll be at Mollys Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday from noon till 10, (with the exception of 2-3 when i'll be trying to work off some of my cucpake calories), Friday from Noon till at least 6, and I'll be there Saturday Night probably until 12 midnight. If you're coming in for Jimmy's show on Friday night or just happen to be in the area, please come visit!!!! Friday night, i'm not sure what hours i'll be there cuz im planning to go see Nortons show.

Thursday night is a great night to come, if anyone wants to come teach me to play jenga or beat me at scrabble.

they dont ship unfortunately. cupcakes dont generally travel well unless they are made with preservatives and things to extend their shelf life. even when i drive them back and eat them the next day..they're just not the same as eating them at mollys.

but maybe someday......i'll keep you posted.

it does give you a good reason to visit chicago though. you know...the Alley Capital of America!

ok the first pic was the first incarnation of the bennington, but its changed since then. new pics will go up Tuesday night. The original one was basically a Tastycake Kandykake in cupcake form-- vanilla cake, peanutbutter filling, and chocoalte icing. But it got modified.

Its now chocolate cupcake, filled with creamy peanut butter filling and butterscotch chips, topped with chocolate ganache and sprinkled with more butterscotch chips and crumbled butterfingers, and it is the #1 best seller at Mollys even though its also the most expensive cupcake at $3.85.

That tower thing, is a fancified version of the Ronnie B, has 7 layers and sells for about 8 bucks, but they only make a few of those and only once in a while. That has a layer of chocolate cake, a layer of vanilla cake, and several layers of a crispy peanutbutter chocolate filling, butterscotch chips, and peanutbutter, all coated in chocolate and sprinkled with butterfingers and butterscotch chips. Its wicked good.

All were inspired by Rons love of tastycake candycakes and krimpets,

We came down to Chi town from Green Bay to go to Wrigley for opening weekend and made our way over to Molly's. Biggest mistake was ordering the strawberry one for our daughter cause she just wanted to eat my Ronnie B. My brother is moving to Lincoln Park in May so I am sure we will be back in for more goodness.

On a side note I should probably update my sigpic, gonna have to iron on another WP logo.

Hey HTG - just signed up to say thanks to you and Mike Caca (sp?) for the warm welcome at Molly's yesterday. You were very gracious and classy. It was great to meet you and it made my brief work-related visit to Chicago memorable! The cupcakes are AWESOME and are a big hit at our house already - the Ronnie B. is pure decadence. If you didn't hear I got on the show Thursday as suggested and pimped the 'cakes!

Oh man, these cupcakes look so good they finally motivated me to register to post. They HAVE to start shipping these things, I know I would buy a bunch. I would never attempt to cook one myself, I am anti-cooking, though not anti-eating..yuk yuk.. I have found myself coveting them to the point I feel like gollum lusting after the one true cupcake. I have even had thoughts about hiring someone in chicago to buy some and ship them too me. Thank god my natural lazyness prevents me from going down that route of madness.

I am curious why they don't want to enable shipping. With two national shows singing the cupcakes praises it seems like a no brainier to find a way to ship them. I understand freshness is important but I would deal with some kind of crazy expensive overnight shipping. Perhaps they are just so busy they don't have time to deal with the huge load of internet orders. I can deal, but my cupcake lust will be unquenched.

Mike and I really want to thank everyone who has been super super super supportive of Mollys and so many of you have come from REALLY far just to try a Bennignton. Mike says every day he has people come in to say they're huge fans, and they want a Ronnie B.

For everyone who hasn't gotten to chicago, we are really going to try to make a big haul of a bunch of cupcakes back east at some point this summer, hopefully right before some kind of event or get together so lots of people can try them.

oh god this made me laugh...update on the Artie Lang cupcake available at Crumbs in NY. this cupcake was created as a fundraiser for a charity, and proceeds were donated to an organization called LIFEbeat. according to one website, after some behavior they didnt approve of.........Lifebeat returned a 10k check to crumbs and are refusing any further donations. seems silly to me, to return the $ based on a few stupid jokes, but i still giggled over the fact that they were so horrified with the way artie conducts himself that they didnt even want his $$.
