Saving Matt Ryan.
I don't think his publicist would love this thread.
He'd do better in the NFL.

i wish i had his chutzpah at that age (those crazy kids!)
Some great comments - tho seemed to take RB's gracious on-air praise/encouragement too far with too many subsequent pointless/unfunny interjections..imo w/obvious polite silent reaction..
Personally, I would like way more "4th" mike guests; today's on-going baby-blather is something i appreciate when its someone i know, otherwise, insider texts like that "frenchie" call etc....should be credited on my XM, er, Serius a/c.
RB paraphrase= "This is not the show that XM paid for"

Seemed like too much of an eager beaver to me.
So be sure to add this to your boyscout uniform my friend.

It was my first time on the show. Hope it is not the last, I really enjoyed it and am very grateful to have met and be on the air with Ron and Fez.

As a point of politeness, when you're in the room with a guy who originates a line, don't repeat his line.

I guess the bit was funny, but you could tell how Ronnie had to go to great lengths at times to save the dead air that resonated after Matt's voice hit the mic. He wasn't funny or entertaining, but he's just a kid so I'll flow with the bit and have fun with it. Ryan for Pres!!!!!

Let him get a little more time before you judge too harshly. How many of you guys would even have the stones to try. Today wasn't great but, wait for it...

I've been on the air and I've tried too hard to be funny and I've been criticized for my appearances on the air here. So yeah.
That being said, Matt's appearance reminded me of the Jimmy Key sportscenter commercial.

Yeah, don't. My point was you talked waaaaay too much, came on too strong, and blew up Ron's spot a few times.
I know you're young and still learning, but I literally cringed in my desk at work when you parroted Ron's "don't make you a bad person" line right in front of him. That's something you don't do. In comedy timing, it's just as much what you DON'T say (i.e., being quiet after revealing that your dad was a heroin addict so Ron can get the line in) instead of bulldozing through Ron's spot.
You're intelligent but overtalkative. Didn't have good flow.
Better than Robert Christopher, or whatever the fuck he's called now, so you get points there.

Oddly enough this stuff happens because Ron makes his guest feel so comfortable that they think they're killing.
The kid wasnt bad at all,he just got too comfortable is all.

Sounded too much like Sheepy, and I'm not a big fan of him so, no thanks on 4th mike. That would just cut into Ronnie's time, and that is like not passing the ball to Jordan in the 4th.

He's better than the ZMan, I'll give him that but there were a few times he was trying way too hard to be funny. Still, I'd say he's one of the top 15 4th mic candidates.

I don't post much, and I guess it's true people speak up when they have something negative to say, but man, I couldn't stand it. I listen to Ron and Fez every day, the entire show. I record with ReplayAV to make sure of that. I LOVE everything about this show, and I really just cringed everytime the kid's mouth opened.
I was waiting, just waiting, for Ron to shut him up, but sometimes he is a little too nice to guests. Line after line of dead air, or maybe a few courtesy laughs. And every chance to throw a line out there, he definitely took it and then some. Now I'll give it to him, he has balls throwing shit out there like that, but damn, make sure you're funny.
Someone mentioned Zman, and he actually reminded me of Zman. Replace Dave? Replace Mooch? That's a dream and a half.

The nerves probably got him, if he were comfortable i think he'd be fine, though gotta work on his timing and material. All that 4th mic is fucking crazy talk, and i would love too see some of you negative nelly's got on a mic in front of Ron and Fez and kill. Alot of callers get nervous could you imagine being in front of them? He tried dont kill him for that

I'm not arguing the kid has balls. I would be shitting myself if they expected me to interact with them on the air. I'm just thinking it would have done him well to be a little more scared.
