I was watching one of those Looney Tunes compilation films the other day on Cartoon Network, and I absolutely loved every minute of it. I normally praise Trey Parker and Matt Stone as cartoon genius's, but I don't think they have shit on this combination. Chuck Jones wrote most of my favorite Looney Tunes. Whats Opera, Doc?, Duck, Rabbit, Duck, One Froggy Evening and also directed the classic Boris Karloff version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Mel Blanc voiced most of the characters, including Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, Sylvester the Cat and Tweety.
They made cartoons SLAMMING Nazi Germany in the 30-40's:

And made BRILLIANT cartoons referencing art and stage:

Just absolute brilliance, and way before there time.

Well, thanks Carl Stalling!!
The first time I ever got high was freshmen year in college, I was laying on the top bunk in my dorm room watching cartoons and absolutely laughing my ass off realizing how much the music was synced to the movements of the characters. I guess I had noticed it before, but damn it killed me. Xylophone for walking...
Surprised this thread isnt getting more attention.

I have The Carl Stalling Project CDs Parts 1+2. Essential listening.
To hear your fave cartoons, with just that audio = superb. There are one second long sound effects and complete cartoon scores.
These were big friggin orchestra type set-ups, all recording live. So if the tympani player flubbed his big hit six minutes in, the whole thing was fucked. No multitracking or isolation of instruments; if one of the group was off, the take was dead. No turd polishing allowed.
And the pace and schizophrenia of the musical styles, the people who played said it was the most technically demanding gig they ever did.
And to translate motion into sound as he did. OK enough...

I remember similar threads; I definately remember pasting stills from the once rare 'Warner Brothers Banned Cartoon' series; Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips, Coal Black and dem Sebben Dwarves; the awesome un-PC stuff of the era.

I have a bootleg DVD of Banned Racial Cartoons. It has Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarves, and a couple more of Black people dancing and singing (That's how nearly every one ended). But it's mainly racist against Native Americans and Asians. It also had all of the "Buy War Bonds", and Nazi cartoons on it. A truly great buy for $10.

So yeah, after listening to O&A today, I would like to say I own no such DVD, and I find said cartoons offensive.
That is all.
