Mario Kart Online Thread

Since a lot of people are picking this one up tomorrow, we ought to try to play each other online. I think we can create rooms where we can play together. I think we need to add each other's Mario Kart friend codes (which don't appear to be the same as your Wii friend codes), then whoever creates the room can invite all of their friends to play in it. Maybe it works, but maybe it doesn't, but we can fine tune this thing going forward. In the mean time, if you're interested in playing with other folks on this board, post your Mario Kart friend code, and add all of the people who post codes in this thread as friends.

-How's the wheel add-on? Better or worse than the WiiMote alone? What about the GameCube controller?

I got the wheel for that need for speed game and it is very non-responsive, turning was a bitch, i would just grind the walls finally i just stopped playing it .but who knows they might of improved it .

Bought it this morning at 6am and have played the heck out of it.
I really didn't think I would like the wheel but it is fantastic. It took me about 3 races before I felt comfortable with it. I have only played it with the wheel. It responds really well.
Online is great! I have been playing 12 player games with not one sign of lag. The only problem I have is that people like to play the same boards over and over again. I have played the Luigi circuit at least 40 times today.

The WFC servers are all overloaded, lots of people (including me) were getting 61010 errors (or something) tonight which means it's busy. I am online now, try putting me in and see if we both being online at the same time helps.

Some of those items are the worst. I'd have a nice lead, and least be in the top half of the players the whole race and then at the end of the 3rd lap I'd be smashed with 3 different things and come in last.

In the Mario Kart Channel there is the time trial tournament, the first one ends on Friday. It's a single race against the CPU players. You can post your scores online and then compare yourself to your friend's list, regional list, and worldwide.

I still suck compared to the best players, they are down to 1:33, which seems impossible.

At the very bottom of the MK Channel you should see a link button that says something like "A tournament is currently under way!"

Click that and it takes you to the official thing. It's a race on Mario Circuit. Then when you finish it says "Would you like to post your scores? You can do this as many times as you like" and then it sends off your figures.

That's the worst. You can be in a game and when it's over you see that your friend is online so you drop out to join them, but then you find out they already joined your game so you have to go back to where you were, but then they might drop out and do the same.

There should be an alert that pops up when a friend joins the game you are in so you dont need to hunt them down.

The moving company's truck got in an accident and wasn't able to show up in time to get us into our new building during moving hours, so the whole thing got pushed to tomorrow morning. There is nothing I would like better to do right now than play, but the Wii is packed up. Even if I wanted to go through the trouble of hooking it back up, the room with the TV is almost completely full of boxes, so playing is impractical. Argh!
